Spotted, Chaz's yellow westfield

Well last sunday i spotted a very distict yellow westfield in our area, not seen it for about 2years.......well in 1 piece at least.

I rubbed me eyes twice but yep it was real, so the myth has been put to bed. :0  It looked very smart to boot, all that powdercoating was worth it.

When it started it went well,  Ok reasonably well :p  but the point is it was out and working.

Nice to have the chap back in the fold. :t-up:

Mark and I went for a quick blat early Sunday morning.

The car went very well but it's still in it's "shakedown period"

It's a little......er shall we say "flighty" on very bumpy roads, the gear knob worked loose and the starter solenoid packed up (hence the ref to "when it started" in MJ's post)

On the positive side I didn't crash it.....................

It felt really good to be maxing it out again and I'm looking forward to plenty more blats this year.

Chaz.

my knobs like that chaz :p

my nob used to be like that - always coming off in my hands

I have been led to believe the nob has to be larger than the shaft its attached to.......

stops your hand slipping off.   :D

That's a little harsh lads, linking chaz's car to a knob gag in only 8 posts.

Got to be a record though

Are we having an impromptu mid monthly meet blat at some point then?

Breaking news..............

Knob and shaft are now as one as a result of some strenous screwing activity, the addition of a suitable lubricant and a firm guiding hand from Mrs 'Slide.

If it works loose again I'll resort to the welder  ???

Two shiny new solenoids turned up today from Wood Automotive (fantastic service and a good price).

The plastic end cap appears to be made of sterner stuff than the previous Lucas ones that I have had so the ignition switched feed wire terminal should be less likely to snap off it's plastic surround when the terminal bolt is tightened and hence work loose and as a result fatigue fail the inner wiring in the solenoiod body (the normal mode of failure hastened by the heat from the exhaust manifold making the plastic brittle)

FYI the part number for the solenoid for the LRS707 starter (or equivilent) is TPB142 (Lucas Number) the Woodauto number is SND1444

Their price is £15.20 + VAT and carridge and they are happy to deal with private sales even though they are a manafacturer supplying the trade.

Direct sales is on 01484 493000

woodauto supplies ltd.

Solenoid will be fitted Sat evening so I should be on the road by the end of the week.............
