peterrosey
I'm part way through building my Megabusa (complete kit from Westfield) and want to replace the stock rubber/steel steering rack brackets with some alloy items. Are these just standard Mk 2 Escort items? Westfield want £50 for 'em which seems excessive if they're just TAS-type Mk 2 Escort items... Also, the Westfield-supplied bonnet clips look rubbish quality - can anyone recommend any decent locking items? Thanks for all your help! Kevin Wood
Regarding the bonnet clips, Westfield also do cylinder locks which look much better but require some patience to fit! If you specify them when ordering the kit I'm sure it won't be a problem. They're more secure as well. Kevin
Allen Parkinson
RallyDesign do some very good stainless over centre fasteners with a safety catch to ensure they don't undo accidently. Part No. RD6001 £9.80 per pair or £7.80 per pair for 3 pairs. Tel. 01795 531871 for mail oder.
Westfieldman
But they fail SVA you need the rubber covers for the test or the key type ones. Paul.
Mark Stanton
Check out Cat Motorsport for steering rack mounts - club mag and website have contact info.
Nick M
SVA issues aside, the best bonnet clips I've found are Protex ones (something like www.protex.co.uk or .com, one of the two). I've got ones where the latching hook bit is spring loaded (bit like on a wooden clothes peg) so these help keep the bonnet securely in place. Much better than the non-adjustable Westfield ones. Steering rack mounts are just the TAS ones. £30 + VAT from TAS if you convince them you're "in the trade", otherwise they're about £35.
