mr_fibuli Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I got an advisory on my recent MOT for slight play in the front wheel bearings. I have the Westfield fabricated steel uprights, which I gather have the non-tighten-upable type of pressed in bearings. The wheel moves by about 2mm top to bottom, is this anything to worry about or is it fairly normal? There are no bad grindy noises. Quote
stu999 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 IIRC the fabbed uprights have a non adustable all-in-one type bearing. Measurable play in this type of bearing warrants further investigation... Quote
vennscars Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Hi, i have the same uprights and had the same problem a couple of years ago but mr mot failed mine. they are one piece bearings which i think are the same as Siera rear upright bearings, got mine from Westfield. the complete upright has to be removed from the car to drift out the bearings, my local garage tightened up the nut as its about 250lbs, my wrench only goes to 150. hope thats a help ROD Quote
Carl Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 It's very unlikely to be the brgs (if they are torqued up) Check all the other items firts (ball joints, etc) Quote
