davidgh Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Interesting that our thread has remained on topic. A large number of the posts on the PH thread represent the view that "it doesn't matter 'cos a Caterham is better". Amazing Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 dont forget everybody hated the new shape 3-5 five series beemmers when they were launched And your point is? the point is that sometimes new designs take a while to sink in - there was a huge reaction against the design of the beemers when released Now most people if you ask them actually like the styling I think Tiger and it's potential customers should be fairly happy with the results - like I say it looks ok to me - and if it fit's FB's like me and has greater side impact protection? then it will hopefully do ok by them Last thing the market needed was yet another 7 copy I take it some of you wont be placing your orders sometime soon Quote
Fent Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The car seems to be made in 3 separate styles, the front is basically the standard 7 with smooth curves which continue up to the aeroscreen. The side pods are flat panels with sharp edges which looks odd against the bonnet. The rear is then a mixture of the two with a flat (ish) back and rounded corners. Too many styles! No focus, This is confusing If you are going to go for the flat panel and sharp edges then this surely must also be applied to all areas of the car. I don’t think the rear is that bad and they should have extended this styling across the vehicle. Make your mind up, is the exhaust internal or external I do not claim to be an automotive designer, my expertise is actually in furniture design but I know that if I was presenting this as my work I would be expecting a call from my boss to pick up my P45. matt_c Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I didn't like the shape of the FW front and rear when I first saw it but it grew on me and I ended up ordering the FW body shape last month. However I seriously doubt that Tiger will ever grow on me, there are limits. Oh and for the record I still don't like the new shape BMWs (Apart from the 6) Quote
Nic Ayre Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Caterham 21 was a pretty car, but do they still sell them no, cos people want a proper 7 shape. Front wheel arches on the Tiger look horrible, although the gloss finish could be used as a mirror fot the missus to comb her hair after a spirited run. Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Well at least that design has a consistant theme front to back. I get the sidepod/aero look, it's an interesting direction, but the way this has been done make it look like a cheap and nasty bodykit scribled on the back of a fag packet by someone who hadn't seen the car it was going on. (Something that looks pretty obvious when you look at the sketch up - the underlying model suits the "add ons" much more...) Quote
oioi Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 personally if you are going down that route you might as well get one of these http://web.mac.com/rawuk/Raw/Raw_Fulcrum.html Quote

In fact it's not too bad in my opinion. I still won't be rushing to cancel my Westfield order just yet though. Quote
combatsapph Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 The fulcrum is going to be my next build :-) Quote
davidgh Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I won't argue. In fact it's not too bad in my opinion. I think I'm right in saying that Gary Goodyear's Fulcrum has won all but three of this year's rounds of the 750MC Kit-Car championship. Presumably, it must function like it looks. Quote
blackb1ade Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 but....I really quite like it It certainly would stop some numnut trying to interlock wheels with you braking into Druids.... Quote
