2.9 V6 in a westie???

Hi there, my first post so I guess I'm in the right place.

Having been to Anglesey for a book a track day last week, I now have the Westie bug. More importantly, so does my missus! I'm wondering if the 2.9 V6 ford engine is ever fitted to westies. There seems to be strong ford connections, so presumably someone's tried it?

Cheers,

Tb

I have seen one Westfield with a 2.8 V6. It looked a bit of snug fit, although I think it's in a narrow bodied chassis. It's an option that the Westfield factory never supported, so you wouldn't be able to buy one from them, nor any bits to help with the installation. It can, and has been done though.

There has also been a Westfield with an Alfa V6 fitted, but I know absolutely nothing about that at all.

Don't do it!!! Ford V6s are soooo heavy - 100% cast iron. Took three of us to lift one. If you must have cubes, go Rover V8, it's lighter and easier to tune. Although Specialised Engines will do you a 3.2/3.5 V6 with about 240bhp for about £3000

P.S. Twin turbo V6 - now we're talking.

Cheers fellas,

Being new to all this, I just thought I'd check. I've been mucking around with XR4x4's for the past year or two doing a few track days. Just wondered if I could use anything I'd learned. Guess I'll be starting from scratch again!

Talking of the twin turbo V6 Sierra, my mate is building one at the mo - a conversion from the original 2.9 (twin) Turbo Technics to a 4.0 twin Turbo. See him at XR4x4.co.uk

Anyway, back to the drawing board...

rascal, not me, I'm afraid! But I'm sure your baby's in good hands!

Westy, looking forward to the pics...I was in the (rather slow) Scoob Legacy Turbo that day - As Jonny said, bhp is not the key to fast laps at Anglesey. Any pics of me having fun would be welcome. At least I've got a great tow car waiting when I get my Westie!

Anyway, prob time for a new thread...

I own the 2.8 V6 that Blatman mentioned.

I bought the car with it already fitted, but as mentioned it is a tight squeeze.

Will be doing my 1st trackday in May so will find out how good/bad the car is.

???

Hi David,

It's good to hear that I wasn't totally off the wall with the thought and that someone else has gone as far as to try it. Have you booked your track day in May yet, or is this just a target date? If it's anywhere in the south let me know - It would be good to see how you get on.

Cheers,

Just out of interest, who's the booking agent and how many moolah?

Hi Peter

The trackday was booked with the Sylva Car Club & it is a joint day with Kit Car Magazine. So it is possible to book either way. The cost is £85.

I hope this is of interest to you. :D

I've just browsed the "Sylva Sportscar Register".

If Sylva_Sportscar_Register = Sylva_Car_Club, then

    18/5 = "Kemble" NOT Bruntingthorpe

Else

Where do I find the "Sylva Car Club" website?
