Pew
Bradbury up in Market Drayton is confident he can get rid. He says there is plenty of room to take down. He will also supply shells to match each bearing. We could be looking at 40's on that con rod. This morning before calling Bradbury I was on the case looking for options. But as he say he cam do it will leave it at that if not when he actually tries then off to find another engine to strip. Or another type of engine all together. We shall see other the next week or so now oli gas delivered the crank this afternoon. End if the day the engine has nor been touched for 12k miles bring pushed. So had my moneys worth thus far. I have been saying for three years it needed a bithday, this year was the year just earlier than expected. It's only a car not the end of the world! Pew
Plot thickens.... the block is a gonna, #2 has a score which we suspect is the cause of the venting.... Looking at options further.... get another block and rebuild..... get a different engine completely.... Decisions, decisions....

Pew
Here is the damage list.... So far.. Block... big score on #2 Crank.... oval on #1 Cam... heavily worn on #3 3mm+ out on measurements Oil pump... scored due to it pumping the crap left over from the shells going on 1.. #2 piston.... must have been damaged for some time scoring #2.... then in went bang (pics ---- the good side, the other side from which the cottle pin has been rattling about for some time and the bang!) Con rod from #2. Follower springs.... god knows where these are from... but they were too short, wrong dia size and now bowed in the middle.... Clutch... ragged edge.... New block being bored to 1700... Spares all obtained and rebuild starts the end of the week..... A BIG thanks for Oliver running the engineering department and CarpetStu in procurement of a replacement engine...
