James Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 If you are planning to take you Westie - perhaps we could all arrange to meet somewhere prior to the funeral - and then go to Roly's house to follow the hearse......? I am going in the Westi (I hope), the weather is throwing it down here as well but I am going on the theory that were due some good weather soon. A good plan where do you think would be a good meeting point? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 29, 2009 Author Posted July 29, 2009 Here's a suggestion for a meet up venue Black Horse Pub car park on A456 If you come off Junction 3 of M5 and take A456 towards Halesowen on your left hand side just after BP garage and opposite Beechwood Audi is the Black Horse Pub. Rolands Place in Oldhawne Lane is only about 5mins away. funeral cars will be departing at approx 11.45 / 11.50am Quote
James Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 May I sugest that anyone interested in joining the convoy in there Westi's meet at Marks proposed meeting point at 11.00A.M with a view at being at Rolands house for 11.30A.M Quote
scott beeland Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Will be there; prob in the VX....But if anyone has a spare seat in a Westfield when we get to the meet point; I'd like to jump in if that's ok.....I'd feel more a part of Rolands final journey somehow. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 Small request - with some work, luck and a fair wind it is hoped to have the white pre-lit at Rolands funeral thate he drove in a few SS events - please let it lead the westfield contingent if you see it - Thanks Quote

moomin Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Black Horse Pub car park on A456 Be aware guys, that the Manor Way (the stretch of the A456 which Mark is referring to) is crippled by roadworks at the roundabout at the bottom at present - often queueing all the way back up the motorway junction. Also Black Horse car park has a decent speed bump on entry IIRC. And Rolands house is directly opposite an ambulance station, so please respect access there if there are alot of you! RIP Roland. moomin Quote

moomin Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Can we have a post code for the meet point? B62 8RJ Here's a google route from there to Rolands place: clickity-click Be aware it will take more than 5mins if the roadworks are still in place (I think they are). Unfortunately, I can't make it as I can't escape work, but I was born and bred a few streets from Roland, hence local knowledge! moomin Quote
brianm Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Super thread, subject excepted. Spoke to Roland only once. First impressions are invariably right. Top bloke, see you soon Roland Quote
MartinH Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Got back from a few days away to hear this very sad news. I chatted to Rowland at Curbrough but that's not how I'll remember him, for me Roland will always be the very quick and competitive guy in the borrowed white car. A sad loss to the Club and everyone who knew him. Quote
Scottish Bloke Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Hope all goes well tomorrow, Ill be having a quiet moment to think of Roland, see you sometime fella For anyone who hasn't noticed, Ash Mason has set up a just giving page for Roland's favourite charity, see the "sticky" at the top of the page if you would like to make a donation.
