perksy Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Very Sad News Roland was a smashing bloke with a lovely sense of humour and a real character Even though he was ill He never complained and when i last spoke to him he said he was taking it one day at a time and setting himself little targets to achieve He will be sorely missed not only by the WSCC but also everybody who knew him Thank You Roland You made me Laugh and it was a Pleasure to have known You Quote
davidgh Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Roland was a stalwart not only of the WSCC organisation but also, when he was able, of the Speed Series -- where he was seriously competitive in the (enormous) class A of 2005. On both of those counts, and even more as a thoroughly decent person, he is an enormous loss to us. Condolences to his family and close friends. Quote
Arm Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 It was a pleasure to know him. I personally would like to thank Roland for all the hard work he did for the club and for that dry sense of humour. Go on mate give em some stick wherever you are ! Ash Quote

greenandmean Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Rest in peace Roland, will never forget the battle of the cross flows we had on many occasions, just wish I had your courage and determination. God bless mate, and condolances to all the family and friends. Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I've only just finished posting on the A449 accident thread and thought i was down, but now I just dont know what to think, a bad week just got worse. Bye Roland and many thanks from the bottom of my heart. I hope your at peace now in Westy/Dutton heaven. Quote
cliveboy8 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 This is a really sad time. Henry Surtees, two from Bristol in the Westfield, Massa and now Roland. Didn't know him, never spoke to him but anyone who gives up a large amount of his own time for a club should be admired. My thoughts are with his wife and family. Quote
Gazza Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 It was a pleasure to get to know you, Roland - you were the first WSCC Speed Series-er I ever spoke to as a complete newbie on the Llys-y-Fran campsite . You made us feel amongst friends right away. You're missed already amigo. Quote

a4gom Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Only met him a handful of times but everytime I did it was as if we had known each other all our lives, proper top bloke who always put others before himself. You'll be missed pal, burn rubber n rip them clouds up! Condolences to the Family. Quote
