Lundy Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hi I have pretty much got my narrow body ready for the IVA test only a few bits and pieces to finish. Can sombody please explain to me in very small words exactly what I need to do to registar the vehicle ! As I understand it I need to have the car MOT'd ideally before the IVA test as this can be used to set lights and check brake balance etc (free to retest within a number of days) then the vehicle has to go to the VOSA place and undergo an IVA test (this much I understand) What paper work can be done ahead of the IVA check? Looking on the web I am led to believe I will need a VIC check a ministers approval certificate (MAC) and a v55/5 (first line of which asks for the registration number!) I have phoned the DVLA and VOSA and must have got the only two people who were not sure what I needed to do, they have sent me an IVA 1 form and the V55/5 and an amateur builders declaration. Can some more experienced member please tell me what I need to do. Thanks Chris Quote
stu999 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 You don't *need* an MOT. Some folk go and get one prior to the IVA to get another set of eyes looking over it, but thats up to you. You DONT need a VIC check - this is for vehicles that have been declared a write off, and are subsequently being put back on the road. You will need an IVA pass certificate (IAC). Apply for the test with the IVA1 form, including the Amateur build declaration if appropriate. Once you pass the test, you get the IAC. Then you need to pop along to your local DVLA office and fill in the various forms (a V55/5 is one of them IIRC). DVLA may (probably will) want to inspect the car prior to first registration too, just to slow things down. They will want money for first registration, and for at least six months tax. They will give you a piece of official paper with the registration for your car, that will allow you to get plates made for the car - then you are on the road! Quote
