This will divide opinion........

I have a CVH, have done a number of track days with no surge problems.....I run T1R tyres.....

I know some of the racers have also had no problems.....

HOWEVER, others have fitted accusumps, and baffled sumps.........

The CVH sump is quite deep, so you certinaly don't need to change anything for road use....P.S. I'm assuming it's a 1600 cvh?.

I have had no problems in 40k of road miles  - some of it quite spirited in the Alps etc. It is deep and so I suggest you re site the drain plug to the back face to stop it hitting the ground . AFAIK the 1800cvh in the Sierra had the same sump . Although admittedly they didnt throw that around a track

The biggest issue with the cvh is the low sump bottoming out on bumpy roads.  It's not unknown to hole them and that can be terminal  :(  I've had two modded in the past to cut off the bottom and add wings to the side, this will give you an added 30-40mm extra ground clearance.  You will also need to mod the oil pick up pipe to suit.  I have photos somewhere if you need them.

 thanks for the replies i am only asking as i have removed my sump from my 1600 and found that it has been modded but i am refitting a standard sump (unmodded)with a oil drain hose for the turbo and didnt want to cause any problems for myself

Couldnt really see any benifit to what the guy had done to the sump so thought it better to ask before i hack a perfectly good sump to bits

Thanks again
