chris7273 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I have a slight problem with my westfield. After having read a lot about braking issues, I come to the conclusion that the "They all do that Sir" for Brake balance (rear blocks before front) is also for me The brake items are standard (M16 front and Sierra rear, standard pads). Before "playing" with a brake bias valve, I will try to upgrade the brake pads on the front. Mintex 1144 pads are not easily available in Belgium and the shipping costs are expensive from UK to Belgium. Ferodo ds2500 are easily available here. Mintex have a good reputation and seem to solve (sometimes, not always) the rear before front blocking problem, will I get the same result with Ferodo ? Or should I stick to Mintex ? Comments from users welcome. Thank you Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The DS2500 are a good pad and in my opinion better than the 1144 Quote
oioi Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 The DS2500 are a good pad and in my opinion better than the 1144 fully agree. i went from ds2500 to mintex for cost saving reasons. could not stand them. took out the part worn mintex before the end of there life (most unlike my usual pikey self) and put in some fresh ds2500. much better. Bean Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I've not tried the Ferodo DS2500 pads yet but am very impressed with my Mintex 1144's on track and road. Quote
Mark B Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Ditto, I used to run ds2500's when I had the M16 calipers, they are much better than the mintex m1144's for feel and stopping power. Quote
chris7273 Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 So it sounds good for DS2500. The price in Belgium is around 69 pounds (VAT inclusive). This is more or less the same if I had to order mintex 1144 because I don't have to pay for the shipping. The guy from the shop told me the reference for Cortina/Escort was FCP167. I will give it a try (in August). Thank you to all. Off course, comments are still welcome Quote
scooby Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 DS2500 all day, I switched on my old Westy, Ds2500 had much better bite from cold and held on longer on the track. Quote
