red hot Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Cleggy,Cleggy,Cleggy, wot can i say!!!!!!!!the idea is to keep it on the black stuff . As tony says i have 4 tires you can have for £60...loads of tread on them but because of the age they are not good for road use, but if you want to tear the a** out of them on track they would be ideal Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Porkie - sounds like the aero screen wont be at yours so will let that idea go ref next Tuesday I think, unless the car has any chance of being back at yours by then Nigel - thanks for the offer of the tyres but think I gonna try and get some wheels with tyres when funds allow Langy - I shall try to be discreet with my sideways action The only way to learn what your car does on the limit is take it to the limits Quote
LocoR1 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Hi Mate what can i say let me know when you decide a date could be up for my first proper track day as well money permitting! If not would be worth the drive over to watch just to see the look on your face when they throw you off for over enthusiastic driving Your not going to believe this but ive just sold my spare set of wheels Capri 4 spokes with Avon ACB10's on, went for £102 on ebay last night although ive had no contact from him yet Dave.. Johnson Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 If you want to have a hoon why not sign up to LOT http://www.lotus-on-track.com/about.html I joined and have my first with them in July at North Weald £30 quid membership and £25 for the day. Details below Come and have a play on one of our hugely popular http://www.carlimits.co.uk activity days at North Weald, Essex. Plenty of safe, fun to be had for just £25... Location: North Weald Airfield, Essex. Click for map Price: £25 per car Noise limit: none Sessions: none relaxed fun day Limited to JUST 25 cars.. Start: 9.15am Finish: 4.00pm A safe fun activity day which will commence with all drivers taking a 90 degree bend at increasing speeds for the first hour before going on to play with 2 small circuits. Theres only one car out on each circuit at a time and no crash barriers or walls. Each of the circuits covers a small area and are set out arround cones. This is a relaxed play day. Each circuit will be timed and there will be an instructor on hand to give advice on better car control or just how to hoon it more as required. This is not a track day - helmets are not required and it's covered under your normal road insurance. The July one is sold out but there are spaces on the September one. Sounds more like the sort of thing you want, plus by joining LOT you get access to cheap trackdays Quote
Lurksalot Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Langy - I shall try to be discreet with my sideways action The only way to learn what your car does on the limit is take it to the limits I believe that Steve H is organising a drift day at Oulton on the rally stages , Here It sounds just what your after Quote
RichP Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 but my thoughts are really not to see how fast I can go, but to have fun and generally get the car to be doing exiting stuff around the corners Hence the need to keep your good tyres on the car! You'll get a slapped wrist for drifting round all the bends, and believe me you'll have more fun realising how quick you can go around them with sticky tyres! Keep the ypko's. Let me know the date you go............... Quote
markcoopers Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Cleggy, Keep the Ao48s on, and drive it on these limits, it is important that you learn about the car you have, not one hobbled with poor tyres in comparison. Catch tank. Tape up your arches and Lights, but not so they can not beed seen!!!!!. I would book instruction, Bedford has good tuition, worth every penny. Make sure the car is in excellent condition, oil and fulids and filters are all good, keep an eye on trre pressures, you will need to lower them during the day, but raise them when you want to come home. Arrive early and make sure you listen at the brifing on what the overtaking rules are. Good shoes. Do warm up and cool down lap, and when you stop in the pits after a run, don't park with the hand break on......all done it. Drive at your pace, but make sure your mirrors work.....others are very fast. Come to our Mallory event, only WSCC and in a group of the same skills. Good luck. Quote
scruffythefirst Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I'm doing yet another training day with andy at north weald this month. I hope to be on the september day to Abbeville with andy on a LOT open pitalane day. Although bedford with some instruction could also work. Got to be before 3rd july or after august. Quote
housebeautician Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 been in touch with bedford and i am arranging a noise level test for mine and cleggys cars. soon as i have that info i can arrange a day. Johnson . if mine fails miserably then i think north weald might be my next best option with the car as it is,but might like to do it anyway.within the limits or not. Thanks to everyone for all the info its a big help. Mark whats the idea of handbrake off in the pits,or am i missing the b****y obvious. Quote
red hot Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Tony, if you put your hand brake on after a few hot laps the shoes will wed themselves to the drums.....not good Quote

Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Dave ... I would have had those at that price m8y I really fancy the oulton park slide days - but its a b****y long way to go ... still thinking about going in August Mark - keep going you may eventually win me over on the tyre debate you got any spare wheels and tryes - I will defo do the tuition at Bedford, I may be able to teach them a thing or two - like how to get car on the grass at every corner Johnson .. that looks good, I have a m8 who has payed similar fees to other groups allowing cheapy track days - sounds like the way to go if I get hooked on em Thanks for all the feedback guys - I am looking forward to getting on the track and seeing what the motor will do (if I have the skills ) Quote
