matt_c
Can I run the standard Ford induction system and ECU when using a Zetec engine or do I have to use a third party system (Such as MegaSquirt etc)? Thanks Matt
thos
Westfield used to do a Zetec 1800 running standard Ford ECU and Plenum alright, so is possible. Not sure what year donor is suitable or what work is required though. My car originally ran this, before I switched to MBE+Throttle bodies. matt_c
Also I have read that I can use Motor Cycle TBs Is this true?
RedditchJay
on OLD SKOOL FORD i have seen MK2 escorts running m/cycle TB's on zetecs......... so yes... i guess it can be done with the right set up and experience.
BEN99W
Plenty of people running bike TBs on here and I have seen adverts in some kit car mags from companies offering kits composed of used motorbike TBs and a suitable management system quite inexpensively. Standard ford injection is doable, although I think on later fords, the ECU becomes a problem as it expects to see sensors that aren't used on a westy (power steering etc) and Ford ECU can't be chipped easily. Mine used to run a standard zetec set-up from the factory and was form a 93 vintage orion/escort/fiesta if you're trying to track down the donor. But I think you'll want to change it to TBs sooner or later... Ben
prackers
Also I have read that I can use Motor Cycle TBs Is this true? Good info Here. Not difficult at all, once I had done a bit more research and gathered together the parts I needed it took me a couple of days to fit the tb's and megasquirt then a few more to get it running well, although I did have someone wire up the megasquirt for me. matt_c
Thanks for this. They seem quite a cost effective solution as well.

Do you have (or can you get) a photo of the engine bay? I would be interested to see what it looks like in there.

matt_c
Matt this might help you here Thanks Rob but I'm not quite at the stage of buying any yet. I'm not ordering my kit till June/July, so at this stage I'm only researching. They do look very nice though and if you don't mind I'll keep copies of those photos as I'm sure they'll be useful to me in the future. gandalf
Great thinking, take the air from the hotest part of the engine bay
MAT1800
There's not much room in there to do much else. Oh apart from fitting TB's
Stuart
Mines like that too. Birkin do an intake like that but it points towards the front and dips towards the wishbones so picks up cold air. Trouble is I have never been able to find where to get one from.
