Bean Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 See this thread LHD Beam Deflectors I fitted these to get through the MOT every year Buy Here There's a modification which involves drilling the alignment hole and twisting the lens apparently. Quote

That's correct - they need a new slot cutting so that the near side kicks up and the offside drops down instead of being level. There's a guy on Locost Builders who sells them (Furyosi or something) and he will be able to advise. Rory's Dad Quote

Gadget Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 My local MOT man indeed pointed it out that the dip pattern was wrong, but then said 'You race in the speed series don't you? You need to put some tape on the glass to hold it together if it breaks; use the beam setter and put the tape across the lens to hide the Kick up so that the beam is flat. I can do your ticket then.' Job sorted and much cheaper than beam deflectors (He even gave me the tape!) Quote
dhutch Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Mine passed fine, he looks at them both twice, but didnt mention a thing. - And I had alined them myself, up against next doors front wall, the night before. Quote
DPM Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I had the same problem on my old Westfield with these lights. The examinar stuck two bits of electricians tape over each headlights to stop the beam pattern going to right, then pased it. (as you see when driving abroard) I took the tape off affter that with no issues. Quote
steve mahon Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Also had the same problem. MOT guy just twisted the lens round slightly. Sorted. Quote

The beam deflectors aren't a great permanent solution, they fade rather quickly in the sun. Quote

brianm Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 My old car had streetfighter bike lamps from M&P, up and down dip only, My regular tester asked, "Don't you get flashed at night?" "Don't know, it's never been out in the dark", was the reply. PASS Quote
