combatsapph Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 My Pinto engined SDV came out at 605kg at the SVA - I've since swapped the 17" wheels for lightweight 15" TD ProRace 1.2's - so that's knocked another 25kg off. It's aero screened with no heater, no interior panels and race seats. Also, not many people realise drum breaks are lighter than disc brakes :-) Quote
Nic Ayre Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I think the gross vehicle weight on the plate also takes into account the weight of the average driver and a fuel tank 90% full, so you probably have about 100kg there. (Bit more in my case) Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 just had my Duratec car weighed at 560kg with about 24litres of fuel and no driver no screen, heater etc etc Quote
mr_fibuli Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I weighed my Megablade with a set of bathroom scales under each corner - came in at 460kg. Be interesting to know how accurate my measurement was! Quote
KC7 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Mine was just set up at by the RaceCarDoctor and came in at 604 kg - Fw body, carpets - in fact all the creature comforts . I came in at 84.5 Kg, so I'm now going to concentrate on me rather than the car which should make the wife happier as well Keith Quote

I have recently fitted Rally Designs Wilwood Powerlite hanbrake caliper conversion to my live axle and saved 4 kgs. My SE weighed in at 660kgs with 3/4 tank, Nissan SR20, spare wheel, carpets, standard seats, screen and inner panels. I have recently peeled off 14kgs by changing to RMD alloy uprights, alloy hubs and Wilwood Powerlites all around (Weighed the various bits as I went) When my car was built, we were having to add a lot of extra steel into the chassis's here in West Oz due to a BS' licensing requirement which has since been recinded in part. This has probably added about 30kgs to the car. Regards Greg Quote
jonclancy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 In reply to Stu M: I've just been on the local weighbridge with the car formerly known as Bumble. 590Kg About 1/3 tank of fuel. Rolling road tune at Castle Combe next Wednesday... Could be as much as 240BHP/Tonne lurking in there! Quote
Bean Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Weighed mine again recently, whilst at the Aldershot Autosolo. 515KG with a full tank of fuel, so it's sub 500KG now Quote
markcoopers Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 How are you boys getting the weight so low? Mine is a narrow SE, Zetec with 4 speed box and cage. No trim or interior pannels, 13" wheels, diddy battery alloy rad and rack mounts, alloy callipers, plastic seats, no boot. This full of fule (25l tank) is 545Kgs.....where you going to get the weight out? Quote

And mine weighs ~550kg, I can't remember exactly what is was last time it was weighed. Granted, I have still got iron bell housing, hubs and calipers. Must get round to changing them all one day...
