perksy Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Nowt wrong with that one, has the benefit of a Fan to increase duty times (used one and it produced a nice weld) Worth investing in a bigger Gas bottle if you've plenty to do Might also be worth having a look on Locostbuilders Think a few of the lads on there use one of these... Norman Verona Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I've had one for about 7 years. No problems, other than the wire stickuing in the feed cable. Turned out it had gone a bit rusty. Cut the rustey section off, re-fed it and it's worked a treat since. Quote
erictharg Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I've had the 165 amp for a year or so now. No problems at all. I rent a small argoshield bottle from BoC - in the time I've had it the gauge has not even moved, so gas cost minimal, but bottle rental some 70 quid a year. Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I have a 160EN turbo, great bit of kit, has done everything i've needed so far.. Quote

scruffythefirst Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I've got one, its great although blows a 13a fuse on a regular basis on full power (I know it should be on a 16a socket) or if the earth is iffy. Much better than the SIP I had been borrowing. Quote
Jackv4 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 ive one and good bit of kit, dont use it often and find that i have the same problem as nverona, the wire gets surface rust on the top layer or the reel if left for a while outdoors and just sticks and mucks around, after i use it now i just take the wire reel indoors, perfect johny Quote

Its not a massivly good idea. - Although in your own home, if everyone knows about it, and its marked/tapped maybe it ok. Failing that you can make it quite a bit safer my mounting the fronts of two plugs onto an small box/inclosure at the right alinement and using that. Daniel Quote
scruffythefirst Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I'll be installing 2 16amp sockets and a longer power cable when I rewire the Garage later this month. Quote

I can only guess its a 16A socket wired to 2 13A plugs? Quote

I can only guess its a 16A socket wired to 2 13A plugs? Replacing the fuse with a bit of bicycle spoke and hoping the plug doesn't melt I could almost understand. At least it's only lethal while you're using it, but double-headed extension leads lying around for the unsuspecting to plug in? It's not that hard to install a properly rated socket (although presumably not now legal thanks to part P). Kevin Quote
