We are racing at Cadwell this weekend, I have only been and watched bike racing there about 13 years ago so don't know the place at all.

Going to watch lots of Utube clips to get an idea......... but experience is a better thing. Sooooo anyone got any good advice to get good lap times around Cadwell?

All advice welcome

Close your eyes and keep your foot in into Coppice  ;)

Best circuit I've been round, you'll love it Cam.

Enjoy

Ok, you asked so here goes:-

Firstly, it's a fantastic track and you should love it. There's nothing quite like going over the crest on the back straight before Park bend at 170 to get the heart rate up a bit :D

Most of it you should pick up, but the tips I would suggest are:-

Coppice should be flat, but build up to it.

2nd part of charlies tighens on you, but try and be on the power all the way round here.

Chuck it into the goosneck as fast as you dare, it's quicker than it looks and the camber helps.

The hairpin is tight and just an accident waiting to happen, so watch it there.

Other than that have a great weekend.

Cheers

Nick

Good advice Nick but in a westfield you should lift a little as you go over the mountain or it might spit you off into the armco!

as Terry suggested lift over the mountain or you will go off   :0  :0 , hall bends you cant really go wrong, beware at the hairpin as there is very little run off now  :0  you need a good exit from barn to get the speed down the back straightso slow in and quick out , Copice at the end you will be hitting over 125mph, you can take it flat but that will upset your approach to charlies 1 and you will end up going slower  :suspect:  I tend to lift a bit then throw it in, Charlies is a 2 part corner a bit like sunny in/out at Croft, go in pretty much flat out into the 1st bit after copice and let the car run out wide, this sets you up for the apex of the run out of charlies and gives you a good run up Park straight, dont brake till you right over the top of the crest for Park, Chris curves is flat out  and the goose neck is very high speed again just throw it and make sure you clip the apex and run it wide accelerate down the hill into  mansfield, that  you will take as you see it. that leads you back towards the Mountain.. :t-up:  lap complete  :D:t-up:

Its a cracking circuit and you will love it although first time I reckon you will be intimidated (i was! ) a very quick lap will be early 1.30"s,  I would expect on your first time to be around 1.35- 1.37 in a quick Duratec , let us now how you get on  :t-up:  :t-up:

For all you SS drivers needing a Cadwell "fix",  :D there's a trackday, 6th July with Easytrack. There's already a very good entry of kits, come and join us.  :t-up:

I always keep it straight and flat Terry :D:D, works for me !!

Try Playing it on Rfactor or GTR2. Having had the pleasure of driving the track before I played the games I can tell you it's not perfect but at least you'd know which way the corners go and the elevation changes.

Well that was an interesting day  :D  weather was brill and Cadwell is awesome  :t-up:

Qually turned out to be a reet  :arse: after a couple of laps the red flag came out and we all had to wait on the start line to go again. So we actually ended up with about 12 minutes qually, not enough to learn anything and I ended up a very poor 22nd place on the grid out of 29. Worst I've ever done  :(  :(

So we go racing, couldn't believe how narrow the grid is when we line up not a lot of room to squeeze past at the start  :0 Anyway once we get going I manage to work myself up to 11th place and second in class  :t-up:  :D  :xmas: then made a dangler up going into the gooseneck and spinning  lost a couple of places.

So ended up in 13th overall and 3rd in class......... quite happy with that considering I didn't have a b****y clue where i was going  :D

Nice to meet Gadget and am looking forward to seeing the photo's  :t-up:  :t-up:

Thanks for all the advice guys....... it helped
