RedditchJay Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Service over counter slow but ok, I went to purchase rear carbon lamps and even though i had ordered them 4 weeks earlier it took them 30mins to find all the parts Quote
scott beeland Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 At this juncture; and before Stoneleigh; I really think we should be getting some form of input from Frank or Julian. Step up to the plate WSC......The natives are restless. WE DESERVE BETTER....And at the VERY LEAST we deserve some explanation surrounding what is going on; and what happened to all the commitment; support and input to the marque; club and customers that you promised during your much hyped take-over. We want to like you; and what you do...But we need something to like Quote
Northampton Motorsport Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, in reality the Westfield product is really very good. Trust me, we see lots of other brands of kit and apart from Caterham the Westfields are by far the best engineered and put together. Perhaps this is partly because the people that choose to build them are generally motivated by performance and quality (not the idea of building something that looks remotely like a 7 and are not bothered if it drives like one) With this in mind the recipe for a successful business would simply be to meet the demands of its current and potential customers by supplying good quality parts and kits at a good price (and margin) I really hope they sort this as the obvious outcome is a loss of business with the distinct possibility of eventual closure, especially with the economy as it is at the moment. With regard to the race technology kit we have fitted a few as well as the DL1 loggers and have found the product spot on. Perhaps this is because we convinced our customers to have the default sensors and calibrated the dash accordingly and they work really well. I know lots of people have ETB dash units but I think the dash 2 is a better product for many reasons and is another example of how Westfield have missed a golden opportunity. Quote
Norman Verona Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I own a Caterham I tried to do business with Wesfield as I have a friend over her and between us we reckon we can sell 300 cars a year in France. But it needs SERVICE not sales. Anyone can sell cars that has a service backup, but few can sell cars that don't. needles to say I was shrugged off. Quote
adam123 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 after getting straight through on the phone ordered a pedal box cover and was told they had them in stock. 10 days later still f**king waiting Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 come on Westfield managers, grab the thing by the balls and get it sorted Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Gotta say that having been around Westfields since 1987 - I have always found the guy in parts to be very helpful - Chris, Gavin and Dave but to name just 3 are spot on guys and it is most unfortunate that "Parts" seems to be getting so much flack. Unfortunately these guys are at the sharp end of the customer front - where perhaps decisions made by others directly affect their efficiency Sounds like some investment is needed in a more up to date phone system, efficient stock control and and a direct hands on approach from all concerned with a full understanding of the specialist kit car market then let folks talk the talk We all know there is a strong market for cost effective, reliable, efficient parts for the upgrade market even in these hard times - BUT the pricing strategy needs to be competitively targeted combined with a quick and efficient turn around of orders to delivery - its not all about new car sales A positive hands on action is all that's required - cut-out the hype and marketing bulldust - there are many WSCC members involved in management positions in their jobs who recognise marketing hype and simply want the job done and sorted - cheap and efficiently - then the PR speaks volumes for itself and perhaps we'll read about the WSC praise rather than problems Scott - we've been around too long Quote
kipford Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Ordered a Pinto sump from parts on line. after 4 weeks no sump, no e-mails on order status, rang parts, will look into it. no reply, rang a week later, sorry we we cannot get these at the moment because the casting company has gone bust!!!!!!!! 10 weeks later still no news, going to cancel the order Monday. During my build the service was first rate, now is Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I was reading in a kit car mag the other day that the boss of another kit car manufacturer tries to get down to his customers sva test Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 Remember the days when the WSC Ltd MD met customers on a Saturday morning with home made cake baked by his wife, when ordering a kit and provided that direct personal customer service Maybe he was just ensuring that the deal was done and cheques signed ................ but it was positive PR Although my old aged memory still recalls WSCC members complaints even then of missing parts, expensive parts and items not in stock, some things change and some things remain the same Quote
Johnson Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I wasnt going to add another reply to this as I had planned to though on having read some of the other posts on here I feel compelled to. Last Thursday I was almost at the point of putting a for sale ad on here as I was so fed up with the whole car. After passing the SVA on the 23rd March I started to set the car up,proper laden ride heights, geometry etc. This was when I found that I was running out of adjustment on the spring platforms. After a call to technical it transpires that I have been supplied a pair of CEC shocks rather than BEC shocks. This wasnt the first time I had been supplied the wrong front shock absorbers as the first set were for normal track rather than wide. Luckily for me I trailered the car to the SVA and it has not been driven at all as I have been trying to get registration sorted. If I had not realised that the shocks were topping out I dread to think what could have happened. Did I get a call back to tell me they did not have any replacements in stock,no I had to call them. I took the liberty of calling GAZ on Thursday only to be told they have no stock either and wont have for 3 weeks!! WSC had called them shortly before me to place an order apparently. What annoys me is the fact that I have had to pay to return incorrectly supplied parts at my cost. I didnt pick the parts incorrectly they did. I have no issue with the parts guys a they have been really helpful and knowledgeable when you can get through to them(my record being 8 attempts to get through). I have also major issues with the Dash 2.I mentioned earlier that the configuration file on their website is so out of whack its unbelievable. I originally had -0.5 bar oil pressure with ignition on but not running. Fuel level reads accurately when ignition on and when running reads 115%?? RPM scale was reading too high by approximately double. Gear indicator does not work at all. Indicated water temp of 115 degrees during the noise test at SVA(poor calibration of temp sender again) I am sick and tired of hearing other people say how wonderfully easy their build was,I can only assume this was before Potenza because now it is appalling. James Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Care to tell all the people still pi***ng around with resistors to get their calibration right, how easy the ETB was James... Oh yeh , thanks Martin I forget about that in my "Rant" needles to say after all of my frustration I turned to the ETB Digidash after some helpful advice from Martin. The ETB dash was a dream to fit o.k a few extra sensors and a little wiring needed to be fitted but it really was only one evenings work to fit the ETB wirring straight in, and guess what? It worked FIRST TIME!!!!!!! yep I was amazed to! all the channels everything I didnt even need to load in a configuration file ETB had done all of that for me, and even the clock told the correct time I know some people's views on here concerning the Digidash but it is very neat and looks better in the flesh (its also smaller than you think) I am glad people that have these suplied from place's like Northampton havent had any problems and I can see that it could be good IF set up correctly its just a shame that Westfield hadnt done this. I have to say that for myself I actually preffer the Digidash its neat easy ro read easier to see at night (it has a brightness and contrast, the Dash2 dosnt) and it has a timer between two speed's i.e 0-60 etc this is a real giggle to play with and im working on getting my times down. I can deffinetly recomend it and thanks again Martin for all of your kind help. I would also say as has been mentioned that the guy's in Parts are great I get on well with Dave, Gavin and Jason its a a shame the phones arent answered as they should be but as Mark has said this could well be down to preasure from above but this ceratinly needs sorting ASAP. The other thing I would point out to WSC is look at the thread on here about upgrades, o.k there might be a recession at the moment but Westfield owners are still prepared to spend money on there cars think about how much money you are losing by A) NOT ANSWERING YOUR PHONES B) Not listing youp upgrade parts in an easy to read format for new owners C) By not making your parts a competative price (were not stupid) As has been said drop all the P.R B.S and get down to running the company properly as I have mentioned already We the owners are your best advert and we are not feeling looked after PLEASE PLEASE sort this out while you still have a company to save. As Northampton said "talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" Quote
Mark Stanton Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 without sounding flippant but WSC ltd is simply a shop, albeit a specialist one and how difficult is that to organise in this nation of shop keepers, with many succesful "models" to copy and utilise - stock control, lead in times, and dare to mention the "D" word to attract both new and long standing clients Quote
