Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Ayup ..got some standard westy padded seats in me motor and have somebody interested in buying them - I have a possible set lined up with yellow piping which I like the look of - but I have a slight hankering to to fit some fibreglass seats I have visited a few sites -- jk composites, playskool, fluke and carbon mods (cannot afford carbon fibre so that puts a few out) I really like the fibreglass seats with a little bit of padding - helps with comfort a little and looks the business -- So can you guys recommend some seat manufacturers to fit a wide - and post your experiences of changing from a soft seat to a padded Plus the fibreglass ones seem to weight about 4.5 - 5 kg ...what do the westfield padded ones weigh? Thanks in advance peeps Quote
dombanks Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I have the jk seats with their 5 piece pad set and find them great. Can't say about moving from normal ones as I've only had these. But I did 3 hrs or so in them and found them better than 3 hrs in the Clio Quote

Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 ahh I do like the look of the JK ones - Upon further googling I have found that the Westfield race seats are 3-4kg lighter than the padded ones http://www.westfieldxtr.com/seats.html Dunno how that compares to jk seats so still need to know the actual weight of the westfield padded seats Go on get your scales out ... stephenh Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Didn't I see somewhere on this boardroom that it saves about 20kg? but cant recall whether that is per seat, or for a pair. Oh when is Blatman due back? Assuming full remission for good behavior? Quote
spence Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Have just fitted the Jk seats with the 5 piece pads as recommended to me on here. Had padded seats before and tbh i find these really comfortable and not a lot of difference although not yet done any long trips in them yet. As for now i think they are great and good value for money. Getting in and out is a little more tricky but who cares. Need to bolt the brackets on them at the weekend though and fix to the rear panel as they do twist a bit. Mine are bolted to the floor and because I'm a short git the seat doesn't touch the rear panel. Quote
Symbiotic_Caterpillar Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I've got MK seats in mine. No padding and they are very comfortable. The Westfield sports seats are around 9.5kg each so I don't see how changing them can save 20kg unless the new seats weight -1kg. Quote
pgh Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Just fitted the JK seats with padding too. Only driven for 15 mins or so with them so far. First impressions are good - really comfy. They're a bit of a tight fit - I have the 41cm wide ones so will use them as a way of stopping me putting on weight! Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 no point me gettin ones that me missus cannot squeeze her butt into Quote
Bananaman Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Got the PKM ones and did 1000 miles last year in a week, no padding, no problem.... Quote

Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 fitted Mac#1 in mine £250 for both inc fixings fit great comfy enough without padding but might fit padding to stop head rattle rather than sore arxx Quote
Porkie Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Fitted Tritons at the Weekend. I like the JK ones but as I understood you need to mount them in a fixed position. I like to let lots of different people drive my one so needed them to be on runners... so went for Triton ones. Really pleased so far. We needed to trim the lip slightly to get them in BUT that made them look alot better anyway! however if I were you... I'd save your money and hassle. Your ones look nice and new from the pics and go well with style of your car. My padded ones were older and were also looking very much at odds with the track based nature of the car so I changed them. I was suprised how light the Westy seats are once you get the runners off them as well! new ones. Quote

Jenko Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I fitted Triton to mine (some time ago)...Had intentions of adding padding, but as it turned I simply didn't need it, they just seem to fit my frame so well.....So I would advise tring them first before you buy padding... I was sad enough to weigh my old seats, and for each seat, I saved 5kgs....(Westfield normal padded seats are 9kgs without runners). Another handy bit of info, is the metro runners are very low slung, and with a little bit of hacking they will fit in a westfield. PJ. Quote
