Kev_BE Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi, Has anyone got any recomendations for a Garage that can rolling road tune my 1600 CVH? Search isn't coming up with anything. Just wanted to give my engine a look over before the summer and would like to use a garage that has helped someone on here in the past. Thanks in advance. kev. Quote
peterg Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 There's one near Chippenham on Steppenwolf's Rolling Road register clicky here or else there's Ray West at Thruxton here or failing that, there's Clifford Cox Eng just down the road from you in Reading Quote
brindle Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Just had Tom Airey in Hants do mine - absolute wizard. its a bit of a drive for you, but the drive back will be great!! Quote
Nomexnomad Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I'm off to see tom aired tommorow so I will report back. Its good to hear someone else has had a good experience from him, I've heard nothing but good reports... Quote

Its good to hear someone else has had a good experience from him, I've heard nothing but good reports... Genius. Last 2 RR tunes (not by me) said carbs needed overhauling. really lacked any midrange punch. Took it to Tom, changed pretty much everything, a completely different car now through the mid range the difference is immense. Oh - and the carbs are in great condition - its just the muppets who tried to do it previously couldn't set them up properly. Its an experience (no straps, one wheel chock the only thing between the car and the garage wall at warp speed and you sat on the boot at 120mph on the roller to stop it wheelspinning, with his dogs mooching around the car) and he isn't cheap, but by gosh he knows his stuff! Money well spent in may case. Quote
Nomexnomad Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 sounds like i will have fun! will report tommorow. Quote
Shovey Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Kev please don't use Ray West . Apologies but I haven't even got the inclination to justify why - nuff said. I've used Tom Airey several times - he is great with Carbs. But a bit of a treck. I've also used Slark Race engineering in the past too. They specialise in Mighty Mini's and Carbs. They are in Amesbury. I thought they were also really good too http://www.slarkraceengineering.co.uk/rollingroad.htm Let us know what you plug for and how you get on Quote
kermit The Frog Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Hi, just to say i`m thinking of using Tom Airey myself as I don’t think he’s to far from me. Never been to an RR myself so Would be really interested to know how you get on. Quote
Kev_BE Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 I really appreciate all the help. Its great. I've called Tom Airey and had a good chat, I love the way they only work half days, sounds great. He's got a ten day lead time, so I'll get booked in and let you know how it goes. Once again all, really appreciate the help. Kev Quote
