Northampton Motorsport Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Special offer for wscc members We have recently invested in a new state of the art injector tester and cleaner to replace our old machine which has finally given up and been laid to rest. Our new machine is made by ASNU and is way more sophisticated than the one it replaces. It can test European; Japanese and American injectors both top and side feed. Basically we can do any injector other than the Gasoline direct injection GDI type used on some Mitsubishi’s and latest BMW’s. The machine automatically carries out Leak down, impedance, and varied pulse rate and engine speed tests up to 10,000 rpm. It will test up to 20,000 rpm if you have really trick injectors. We can also ultrasonically clean the injectors to remove the gummy deposits that impair performance and resurrect old or 2nd hand injectors. There is more detail at http://www.northamptonmotorsport.com/default.asp?id=95 20% off for listed prices for wscc members, just mention the club when booking Regards Troy Northampton Motorsport Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 That's great to see Troy For those of you who have never had this done, it can (not always) be one of the best improvements you can make. Bit like getting the suspension set up. The Busa engine on my DJ just would not run right and definatley wouldn't tick over. I had the injectors cleaned (with an ASNU machine) and engine was transformed, much sweater and much cleaner reving. So can well recommend getting this done and taking Troy up on his offer Edited to add: list price of £ 5 an injector is for nothing, let alone after the discount bet there will be a few people posting on here shortly to say how worthwhile it was. Northampton Motorsport Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 Cheers nick, I thought I knew a bit about injectors until I talked to Roger from asnu he really knows his onions. He will be on the stand at Stoneleigh with us so club members will get a chance to pick his brains and see the kit in action. Hopefully we will also have some exciting news about the launch of a new motorsport injector developed by asnu in conjunction with Bosch. Jamie I always had a soft spot for cars with HUGE rear spoilers. I’m sure we can come to a good deal on the head job Regards troy Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Troy, Can you match sets of injectors with this machine? Quote
Northampton Motorsport Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 Hi John, Yes that’s no problem. Pressure can be set from 0 to 10 bar so we can replicate what you have in the car. We can then delivery test the injectors whilst fully open which gives the figure that all the manufacturers use i.e. 300 cc min etc. we then test the quantity of fuel delivered under varying pulse width’s and rpm. I feel this is a more relevant test than the wide open flow figure as it replicates what really happens in the engine. Just as important as flow is the delivery / spray pattern which is really easy to see on this machine as it has a clear viewing window which is back lit so you can see easily if the pattern is weak or feathered. You then move the rail to the calibrated delivery tubes for measuring flow. The control of pulse width rpm and time is all controlled by the machines on board processor so it’s super accurate and repeatable. If you check out the picture of the machine you can see the injector rail in the clear viewing section. This rail then drops down into the delivery tubes for running flow tests. Regards troy Quote
