Porkie Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Ah, The Flymo. Was built in the early-mid ninties for the British GT Championship, which it was promptly banned from for being to fast. Built originally by Mike smith and Tony Lanfranchi - competed in British GT and was banned "officially" because it did not have a full windscreen, doors and beat many other more costly cars including such things as jag XK220's ............. well virtually everything except McLaren F1 GTR A google should reveal more detail Was then mothballed until purchased by Tom Green (ex WSCC Comp sec) who earned its nickname of the "Flymo" when spinning off the MIRA circuit at 125+mph with grass flying everywhere Upon Tom's retirement purchased by John Tomlinson who invested a lot of time and money for its use in the SS and Brit Sprint Champs perhaps considered to be one of the fastest two Westfield's built Sorry for the pedantry Mark. Actually built by Andy Dawson on behalf of Mike Smith with Tony Lanfranchi as co driver. Wish I could have driven it like him tho' Porkie, here's a video at Croft for your interest. Sorry if it's a bit cheesy Croft Thanks for info. Great vid! Quote
