box_one Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Prime Minister Kevin Rudd - Australia Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.. Separately, Rudd angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. ' 'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!' 'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.' 'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.' Anybody know Gordon Browns e-mail? Quote
James Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Right on! regreatably all of our polaticians are to splineless to stand up for our culture or whats left of it! but saying that I think most people are too nervous about offending someone to say how they feel. Sad really I think there should be a BIG sign on Dover cliffs " This is England if you dont like it P**s off!" Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 What a great after dinner speech that would make in the commons Fully agree , we could do a lot worse than take a leaf out of Rudd's tree And before the re post police call in , I know its been seen before . So what ! Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Almost, but not quite..... the true story Quote
samcooke Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Erm... Does anyone really think an educated politician who's an immigrant themselves in a country that's only been populated by British immigrants for a couple of hundred years would say this sort of thing? I know politicians are stupid, but not that stupid. What might an aboriginal Australian might think of this comment? Quote
James Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 What might an aboriginal Australian might think of this comment? How many muslim aboriginal's do you know Quote
samcooke Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 None in Australia, just like there's no aboriginal white folks there either. My point was, Australia is no more a white man's country than it is a muslim's. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Not sure it's Kevin Rudd's style to utter such a diatribe anyway. He seems quite meek whenever I hear him speak in public. Quote
pistonbroke Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 The proper story (alledgedley) read Note the DATE 2005 like I said a re - post Quote
Guest Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 An illustration of how bad it has got - our local police needed a room for a meeting on policing the community - this is a village with about 200 people in North Yorkshire. The vicar offered the use of the Church, as there was nowhere else available. 'After much discussion at senior levels this is not appropriate as there is a debate about non-church people feeling able to use a church building and the whole thing has reached an impasse' Madness! carpetstu Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Saudi Arabia has had Laws like this for years http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/2009-02-10-saudi-mosques_N.htm If you are a foreigner and have a car accident you are to blame...the law is if you hadn't been in their country it wouldn't have happened because you wouldn't have been there! Ok that may be a bit more literal than the way its actually put but it does seem, its different rules when it suits! You may be / may not be surprised how many Saudi muslims who are T total, due to religious restrictions, get totally hammered as soon as they get on a plane out of the country. This is not from a racism point of view either, I have many friends of muslim decent, who would tell you the same. Quote
bjnsharp Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Didn't John Howard give a speech virtually the same a few years ago? Quote

Mark Stanton Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 QUOTE What might an aboriginal Australian might think of this comment? Sad thing about that is most of em are pushed out into the Bush or up to Arnhem land living on state hand-outs and then spending it all in grog shops .............. any whinging minority ethnic groups in the UK who complain about racism should go to Australia to experience real racism (although perhaps not multi cultural Sydney) Quote
Lurksalot Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Sad thing to me is that s***ty , perverse and provocative reporting becomes standard and begins to incite racial prejudice and hatred and very few can or do investigate the integrity of the reporting. and the great british public lap it up 'dog whistle politics' quoted from Norms link explains it quite well QUOTE `A dog whistle sends out a shrill signal that can't be heard by humans, but the dog perceives the sound loud and clear. In this way, the Government's ( my insert (newspapers))actions and comments, while appearing legitimate and non-racist on the surface, are sending out subliminal messages to appeal to popular insecurities and xenophobia in sections of the community.'
