not for a while just a guy at work likes them and was asking me as ive done the westy therefore know all about kit cars... ???  :0

although....... i do like that style of car. sort of oldy worldy classsic and wouldnt mind doing one at some point.

i would guess at 20K for a decent build. to get nice wheels, decent engine etc. would you recomend using the jag engines or just go for a chevvy.

there is a company also that uses the bemmer Esummat as a donnor, they do the lambo's,

Visited Gardener Douglas once and was Very impressed

Had a trip out in Rob stanleys 560 Brake Supercharged version     :0     :0

Not cheap to build one though, although the Quality was Excellent

Gardner Douglas is the only one I would buy if it was my money.

Looks the part and more importantly, good quality engineering behind it - but if want exact look replica then there are probably better purely for look

Though I have not seen it, the MD of my old firm built a Dax and a colleague told me that the body finish was not a patch on my Westy.

ive heard that about DAX cars from quite a few other people unfortunatly.  :(

strange I thought Dax were one of the better cobra manufacturers.

from what I've seen the silliest thing are what let cobras down like doors sagging because the fibre glass isn't stong enough to support them. I'm certainly glad 7s don't have doors

They have a proper box section spine like Westy`s others simply bolt the f/g body onto outriggers.

A mate I know has built a twin turbo LS2 engined (1000bhp) one so they are strong

A Pilgrim Sumo chassis (see what I mean)

Another one (cant remember the make)

Gardner Douglas are fantastic, but think you're looking at over £30k to build. They're more like a modern interpretation of the Cobra with modern running gear. From what I've picked up the Hawk Cars Cobra is suppose to be the best if you want more of a faithful recreation. Again, absolutely top quality, but it will cost! Looked at the chassis of all of them at Stoneleigh last year and wasn't impressed with any of the others...

Dax engineering is excellent.  Once the cars been painted (and who wouldn't on a £20k+ cobra rep) you can't tell the fiberglass isn't great.  Go and have a ride out in their demonstrator 502 v8, its ace.

Is it? How come yours looks so ropey then? Just poor build skills?

;)

Joking aside, I'd agree with what's been said, with the Dax being the best of the cheaper ones.
