simmi Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Sorry about the size of the pics, is there any one out there that can reduce them? a> CHECK OUT THESE TIRES ! Airless Tires Amazing Coming Soon CHECK OUT THESE TIRES ! These tires are made in South Carolina , USA . SEE THROUGH TIRES Radical new tire design by Michelin. The next generation of tires. They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show. Yes, those are 'spoke' like connect! Ions to the inner Part of the tire from the outside tread 'wrap!' The Next picture shows how odd it looks in motion.... Makes you wonder how the ride feels doesn't it? These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out On the market very soon. The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these. Just think of the impact on existing technology: A. No more air valves... B. No more air compressors at gas stations... C. No more repair kits... D. No more flats... These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina Plant of Michelin. Quote
Norman Verona Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Michelin have had these for about 10 years now. Every now and again they start the PR rolling with an "out soon" story. Quote
bhouse Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Surely the main advantage would be to rig up a lolly stick from the bodywork to make a really cool "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" sound when you're driving along. samcooke Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Lolly stick? It'd snap. We used to cut up yoghurt pots - more flexible. Quote
MVS Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Boys in blue won't like them. Stingers will be pretty useless Quote
carpetstu Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Just imagine the size of the stones those things could pick up and then throw out at 70+ mph out the back end ...sides etc. I wouldn't want to be within a mile of them! Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Just think how expensive they are going to be. Runflat tyres a upwards of 100GBP and can be fitted on normal fitting machines. Those look like they may need a special machine to fit them and that’s going to cost. As has been said they are not new. Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 And what would you do about instances like when towing you increase the tyre pressures? Quote
sailing Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 There no good, all the air will escape out of the holes in the side? Quote
