SVA practicalities

Hi,

Paper work going off in the next couple of days

Meanwhile, just trying to plan logistics for the big day.  I want to drive it there BUT if it fails, will I be able to drive it home "for modifications" like you can drive away from an MOT fail to "get repairs done".  If not, does anyone know how the AA or the like react to a request for a tow in this sort of situation.  Just seems if I gamble on a pass I can potentially avoid the cost/nightmare/boredom of hiring a trailer rather than driving it up the A30 :p ,

Second.  The nut covers.  Do these need to be glued on e.g. with a dab of silicone (so they're not "temporary") or just pushed on so the tester can check threads through nuts etc?  Or does that vary from station to station?

Thanks

You can drive there AND back even if it fails, as long as you go by the most direct route

I could be a good idea to drive, gives you chance to bed the brakes in and get a feel for the car. If someone can follow or go in another car they can be the support.

Dont know about the nut covers, didnt have to do any of that for the XTR.

Yes you can drive from the centre UNLESS it fails on something very severe - like brakes totally innefficient or something.  If you've driven it there and you're still alive this is unlikely to happen though:-)

AA/RAC/Green Flag etc all require the vehicle to have a valid road fund licence.  They will attend but expect to be last in line and to be charged the going rate for the privalege.

Nut covers - my tester told be if you can't take the nut cover off without a tool (i.e. levering them off with a screw driver) then they are fine.  If you can remove them with your bare hands then need glueing on - Iused superglue on the ones that weren't tight.

Good luck with the SVA - hope they don't muck you about with the paperwork like they seem to be doing with others.

Yeah, this is a worrying trend.  Assuming I get my build photos back from snapfish tomorrow, the paperwork's going off.  But what are people getting picked up on?  Is it mainly happening to people doing SDVs etc?  It'll be interesting to see what they make of my completely dull, straightforward, vanilla-plain, complete brand new zetec kit.  If they can find a way to bounce that then I think we know they're just mucking about.

It's happening to everyone - the chaps over at the Robin Hood owners club and both Dax owners clubs (Rush and Cobra) are all complaining of the same thing.
