chambo21 Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Hello just purchased my second hand westfield on saturday and have a few questions if anyone can help. Oh its a 96 fitted with a 2.0l red top running carbs. Firstly sidescreens I have a set to fit but honestly no idea how too? Also is there a better way than using the fitting kit supplied by westfield? Can someone supply pics and a how too please? In sunny Glasgow so just wondering if any meets etc? Also looking for a hood option, is westfield only place u can buy or is there other alternatives? Hi to everyone. Regards Grant P.s Excited newbie Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Unless its for storage etc I would not fit a hood as it is a pain to drive with Quote
Hammy Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 or side screens which look silly IMHO -fit wind deflectors Quote
chappers Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Yeah, I agree it's not all that pleasant driving with the hood up, with the noise and restricted visability, even without misting up. That said, I do have one, but I can't remember the last time I used it. I use my tonneau cover more with waterproof jacket and overtrousers. I am tempted by a Soft Bits for 7's half hood though, and maybe get rid of the full hood. Westfield is the easiest place for a full hood, otherwise you'll have to get one custom made. Side screens should have holes pre-drilled to accept the bolts for the Westfield hinges. You just need to feel through the vinyl covering to locate the holes, then bolt the hinges on. The pegs on the side screen hinges then slide into holes in the windscreen pillars. Hope that helps. Kev. Quote
dhutch Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Ive only had the car for a few months and only drove with the hood once, but it was quite a good laugh. It wont fit over my new rollbar when i get it and i'll be sad to miss that option. - If your after one, they come up second hand quite a bit, from people fitting areoscreens and overheight roll bars etc. Im currently driving with the doors on for any longer journeys or in the cold becuase they keep the wind off. I'll have to see how it goes in summer but a wind deflector might get fitted! Seams a lot just drop onto the door hinges. Daniel Quote
chambo21 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks guys I agree they do look a bit naff a with sidescreens but just for wind protection but the wind protectors might be better so where do u get them? Plus like the idea of the half roof do they fit the westfield no bother? Quote
h4muf Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I love westys with sidescreens on! I hardly travel anywhere without mine. Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Nothing in the summer; Wind deflectors in the spring and autumn; Side screens in the winter: Soft top in the loft.... Quote
