The Great Fandango Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Hi guys With SWMBO's birthday looming ever nearer and her old Pentax compact on the blink I think it's time to upgrade. I narrowed it down to three compact cameras but I'm stumped if I can make a decision based on what I've seen in the shops. Can anyone help with the following selection: 1. Panasonic FX37 2. Canon IXUS 90 IS 3. Samsung P1200 They're all to be had for less than the £200 mark, and all have a pretty vast array of features. Any help greatly appreciated. Regards Kyle, Leeds Quote
jim_l Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Myself and my Bro have cameras from the Canon ixus range, it is my third Canon camera and all the experiences have been great. If one thing would sell me the Canon I think they just have better lenses, all the megapixels in the world wont get a good picture through a bad lens. I remember my 2.5 megapixel Canon took postcard like pics.. anyway.... for an independent review try this : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/digitalcameras/ it also has a 'compare cameras ' feature. Quote
jim_l Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Just one other thought....In my opinion I must stress, dedicated compact cameras will become less popular over the next few years as compact camcorders increasingly double as competent still cameras - it is beginning to happen. Why carry two items around? in fact they are also beginnng to include other functions like MP3 playback, etc. Not sure what there is in your price range now though, but if it is only snaps... Quote
Terry Everall Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 The canon IXUS is neat and compact to fit in handbag or pocket and takes good shots Quote
