StuartMackay Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 How do the car tyres balance on a single roller? Quote
Pew Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Great piece of kit I may have to bring my car to test it! Quote
Northampton Motorsport Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks guys. Stuart the car is driven on to the rolls so the wheels sit either slightly behind or in front of the centreline of the the roller, the rolls are locked at this point. the car is then strapped front and rear plus side to side and the rolls are released. the single roller more accurately reproduces the contact patch the tyres have on the road so grip is better and the tyres dont overheat as much as on the twin roller system. there are lots of other benefits that far outweigh the extra time it takes to strap the car down. The first car we mapped after the install was a Formula Renault single seater wich was lovely and stable, with no wheelspin what so ever and the slicks hardly got warm. on the old twin rollers they would have been molten afetr about 20 minutes. Northampton Motorsport Posted January 3, 2009 Author Posted January 3, 2009 not yet but its bound to happen sooner or later Quote
cidersurfer Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Nasty bit of grout loss in that concrete. I hope they skimmed it up for you... My car has been on the TAT single roller at Richards Brother near Redruth every year for the last three years, they seem very happy with it. Quote
nikpro Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Very Nice Troy; wish we had room for a RR! Anyway - I'll soon be booking another trip to see you - seems to be turning into an annual pilgramage to NMS - can you not move nearer cheshire? Regards Fraser Quote
KerryS Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Congratulations!! I hope that the investment pays off for you, Troy. I'm sure with the excellent service you give it's the expertise plus the tools that will give you the USP. Quote
