Blatman Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Model name and number please... Freesat would be my bet for "free" HD broadcsts unless you want to cough up for Sky. Tip... keep it upright. DON'T lay it flat, or you risk the screen failing. Seens "dozens" broken in this way... Quote

dabar Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Opinion is divided these days on whether plasma panels should be run in,i have the same model and am running it in using these recomended settings. Panny settings Graham. Quote
Asterix Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Here's a running in tip, don't buy a Wii - it can seriously damage your tv's health Quote

custardtart Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 The screen res on that TV supports 720p rather than the higher 1080 so it's probably not worth bothering with HD as the screen won't display it to it's full effect. Try and get a DVD player that can upscale non HD DVD's to 720p However if you really want it you can get it via SKY's HD channel or buy a HD Free Sat receiver and pay about £80 to get an engineer to fix a dish pointing at the SKY satelite to get loads of channels in HD from BBC and ITV with no monthly subs. bjnsharp Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 The HD at 720p is well worth it. The first HD tv I got couple of years ago was not full 1080p HD but the difference over SD or upscaled DVD is impressive. Just bought an Optoma HD65 which should receive in the next couple of days. Hoping to be able to get a 90" picture . Quote
headland blue Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 You can lay plasma down you just cant travel with them layed down but your ok just to bob it down on the carpet as long as they dont have the stand on. You have bought one of the leaders in plasma so even tho its a lesser panel im sure you will be happy with it as for hd well unless you have nothing better to do than watch tv i wouldnt bother mite be worth geting a upscale dvd plaver the tosh xde is the best out or if you want to use vierra link go for a pana Quote

Tim Reid Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Don't forget you can watch lots of HD video's on demand from Virgin Media (SO much cheaper than SKY and you don't need a dish on your house which doesn't work when it rains!) In addition to the movies they only do BBCHD at the mo but I am sure that will change soon. Quote
