lippydave Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Nikpro....It beats me why you have ever owned a westfield... Oh and my 2p's wort.... I like that, could feel the anger coursing through the keyboard... Very reminiscent of Mr Angry on the Steve Wright show in the '80's.. (sorry, "back in the day" as the kids would have us say...)... Guest Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Strange one this , and there is a simple answer , at the moment anything in 4 wheel sales is being hit hard . the private individual has almost stopped buying full stop . The fleet market will still have to renew leased cars and do what for many years it has done in the uk,and hold up the car market , and if you are for example a car maker who has a model thats doing well in the fleet market then you'll not be hit as badley . BMW are in dire straights at the moment , and that comes from the inside ,belive me it isn't good . Wealthy people still spending money most of the very wealthy have been hit just as hard , they don't sit on some endless pot of money they either have investments working for them or businesses which will have no doubt been hit . so there are some very strage comments flying about. westfield are fine doing what they are and should continue to do so , they have a range to cover all budgets and that makes sense , i don't think its to diverse in any way. its a kit car .. a caterham is percieved by the vast majority of the uk public to be the same , those who know it isn't as such are a small minority . everything feeds up the chain in this business and thats a good thing as people will always aspire fromwhere ever their starting point is .... and those who think the rich arn't slowing their spending want to keep a close eye on club motorsport in the next 12 months .... and tell me people at all levels of wealth arn't tightening the purse strings? lippydave Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Sell em and buy a TVR ....buuuuut..... Why sell one kit car to buy another?....Guffaw... Quote
Jumpy07 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Changing the subject :-) I am sure WF would do a lot better if they just answered the phone or replied to messages / email.. frankly I am getting fed up calling and emailing and leaving messages..very hit and miss experience.. If I could get the parts elsewhere I would.. I wonder how many people do just that... they must loose a load of business because of this.. not to mention the bad PR they get.. Working in sales myself it doesnt take a brain surgeon to work out the impact on their revenue and how much they could drive revenue by doing a few simple things.. some cheap "telesales" people would easliy pay for themselves.... simple intelligent CRM system would allow targetted upsell campaigns, and new car sales drive etc etc etc Other than the odd fire sale you see on ebay or the caliper upgrade deals when was the last time you saw some decent sales focus from them, I certainly dont see much on their mailling list.. they obviously dont need any more sales and are doing fine without doing what everyone else does in terms of direct marketing... Having dealt with Raceline recently I have to say WF would learn a lot from them.. night and day experience.. (even Tiger parts are miles better) Anything would be better than "Parts Supply" Is Not Available please record your message .... CJ Quote
highwayman Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Rang parts this morning ... got straight through to gavin .. He checked for what I was after.. couldn't find it to hand .. and then rang me back within 10 minutes with an answer This seems to be the service I always get. I do plan the timing of my call too. Midmorning just after he's had a mug of tai and a fake! Quote
Jumpy07 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Have been calling since Fri noon, just called again.. (been calling every 30mins since 9am this morning), still getting message.. no call back yet.. as I said.. hit and miss CJ Quote
Jumpy07 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Finally got by bits ordered and they couldnt have been more helpful.. But my statement rests, trying to get through to someone is a nightmare.. CJ Quote

Naaah, it's the same subject just a different angle. IMHO you're right about a more proactive approach, and maybe it's something that we (as WSCC members) should encourage both the club and factory to participate in? Given that the aftermarket/upgrade parts business is a very strong part of the Westfield ownership and must be fairly lucrative for all concerned, we should be using the muscle of the members to push for bulk buy deals from as many suppliers as possible, and pushing the factory to reward membership of the WSCC with worthwhile discounts....After all "we" are the biggest co-operative of Westie owners. These days no-one has a a divine right to flog stuff at OTT prices....Powerbase is currently with us the consumer, and savvy businesses should recognise this and do their utmost to engender our loyalty and subsequent cash outlays? Surely the "recession" means only the strong will survive, and where people spend their cash will determine just who is strong in retail business? I appreciate that some suppliers are already on board with this, but I really think we should be poking the factory with a big pointy WSCC shaped stick.... Just my (further) 2p.... Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I know many of you guys have organised bulk buys with various manufacturers ... dunno why Westfield dont get on here and do the same ... quanitity rate prices etc Maybe that would be too much hassle for them? Quote
Arm Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 QUOTE Where is the error? VAG own Bentley... and Bentley are definitely 40% down on sales in the last quarter.... But not 40 % down on the year and not being propped up by VW. Its certainly going to be a tough time but please dont make these things up the press are good enough at that. Quote

Bentley are by definition propped up by VW as they own them.....and have financed all the factory modernisation and new model strategy that Bentley have undertaken and are currently developing..... Those are cold hard facts whether they are palatable or not.... Quote

Guest Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I think the point that is made by Arm is that evenif sales are down 40% it does not mean bentley need handouts to keep running , maybe with the 60% of sales they did make they have enough money from the profit in their cars to trundle along , think about it just becuase you didn't make millions in profit does not make you bankrupt?
