hobbsy Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I kicked this off on Locostbuilders but am now posting on other forums in a hope to get the numbers up, see here: http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=101246 Its only going to happen if we can get enough takers and a large enough discount to satisfy everyone. Either post on locostbuilders (if you're already registered or can be bothered to) or post on this thread (if you CBA). It was set up with the QDF15Z mostly in mind (for the 7 inch sierra diff) but I think we can mix and match. So don't feel left out if you've got a live axle There was a similar Group Buy done on Blatchat about 18months ago that went ahead and another attempt back in Feb that fell flat (a mixture of people pulling out and the company they were buying from messing the organiser around). I'm hoping this one will succeed but one major part of that is the numbers! Hence the post. Quote
pistonbroke Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I'm Interested dependant on cost Need to know what other costs are involved besides the quaife lsd , presumably a Sierra diff case is needed with suitable ratio crownwheel ? and then the cost of having the quaife stuffed inside ,or would that cost be included. Quote
hobbsy Posted November 29, 2008 Author Posted November 29, 2008 Yes you'd would need an existing suitable diff casing with crownwheel and pinion. This is just for the ATB part. If the group buy looks like its a go-er I'll be contacting Road and Race transmissions who should be able to fit them for ~£70 (and also replace any other bits that are on their way out at the same time - bearings etc) Quote
langy Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I'd be interested (push in shafts) Sean Quote
nikpro Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I'll definately have one! Sierra 7" Bolt on flanges required aswell. Quote
hobbsy Posted December 1, 2008 Author Posted December 1, 2008 count me in live axle Apologies for my lack of Westfield knowledge but which live axle do you have fitted? Quote
galois Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Hi Would need an indication of cost and impact on noise, etc Thanks Quote
hobbsy Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 Hi, Look at Quaife website you can find all the retail prices there for whatever application you're looking at. Depends on numbers we're looking at ~20% discount, maybe more - I'll know more early next week. Noise - I can't comment as I don't yet have one (hence the GB!) but one of the first people to reply said he had one and recommended it to maybe a message to him would yield the info you seek. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 QUOTE and impact on noise I don't think you'll find any marked increase in noise by fitting one of these units except for when you're donutting and then noise sure ain't from the diff Quote
pistonbroke Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I think this is the one for a 7inch Sierra Quaife sierra diff Quote
pistonbroke Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 With 25 off would be around £405 plus vat so £465 ish plus pp and fitting to old case plus any other bits needed Total ££££'s a lot Quote
hobbsy Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 With 25 off would be around £405 plus vat so £465 ish plus pp and fitting to old case plus any other bits needed Total ££££'s a lot Agreed but still cheaper than without the discount if you want one Its not as if there are many manufacturers of ATB diffs for this application and Quaife do have quite a good reputation for quality kit. But you do make a fair point, its not the best timing just before or just after Xmas but on the other hand most people aren't driving their cars at the moment so its winter upgrade time Quote
Danp07 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 With 25 off would be around £405 plus vat so £465 ish plus pp and fitting to old case plus any other bits needed Total ££££'s a lot Is this the lowest price?, as ive seen them on ebay for £425, i presume its the same one, Ebay Quote
