PeP Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 On the trip to Le Mans that sparky manage 1 stop, I have 13 petrol stop receipts Quote
michaelcoombs Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I have done a genuine 1000 miles on a single tank in my Audi A4 1.9 TDI (110 SE avant variant) it works out at about 75mpg. You really have to keep up the concentration and deal with the boredom factor to do it. Tuck in behind a truck and just sit there, anticipate any roundabouts or junctions, never brake for anything and never go above 2000rpm. It was a bit of an experiment to see how far I could go when I first got the car, I couldn't be arsed to drive like that all the time but do still get about 880 from a tank commuting from Carlisle to Herefordshire at the weekends. pistonbroke Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I hired a Hyundai i10 for the day and swear the tank was more full after I'd used it than it was when I picked it up it must have made petrol Quote
Gromit Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I can get between 650 and 700 to a tank on me van. Quote

I think we have a winner Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Now we have a winner for the best, can we do the worst I can just get 2 runs of the international sprint course at Anglesey in the Gould using 4 ltrs. So that's about 3.8 miles or 1 ltr per mile. About 4.5 MPG . Not as bad as I thought it might be Quote
NumberoftheBeast Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Audi RS6 Avant 4.2 V8 Bi-Turbo. Can easily see single figures MPG if caning it. Best I have had is around 25mg when nursing it on long, motorway journeys but I've had less than 200 miles to a tank (approx £100 of fuel). Before now, I have put £30 in it and the petrol light has stayed on and I've got less than 50 miles... The Westfield and Ibiza aren't bad on fuel when comparing it to the Audi so I like to use them when I am feeling frugal!!! Quote
Pew Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 570 in my Beemer 530D touring, arounf 140 in the westie xflow... Quote
DanB Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 If I'm really mincing around in the Scooby I can get about 500 miles to a tank. So far the Porker seems to do about the same. The Striker will do 120 miles on a tank if you're lucky, and both Furies should (when they're finished) do about 220 road miles to a tank due to having 35 litre tanks rather than the piddly 20 litres in the Striker. Basically, they're all b****y thirsty, but the tintops have larger fuel tanks. Mind you, my CoG is very low due to my incredibly heavy right foot... Quote
slater Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 averaged 47 to the gallon on a recent 3000 mile round trip to Poland in the Civic I shift petroland not hanging about. Get about 20 in the Westy 2litre petrol. lewis. Quote
carpetstu Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I can melt an ice berg just popping down the shops in the Jeep! Quote
combatsapph Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Got 270miles out of my Westy and that was "untuned" :-) My Scorpio Cosworth actually does worse - it's showing 22mpg atm and that's 50% motorway driving! Quote
Gromit Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Our old racing westy which was rotary powered managed on one occasion to do the equivalent of 3.7mpg. Quote
dhutch Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 tbh it was more about the size of the tank in the case of the jag Yeah the 806 (2l Pug Hdi) does ok, just because it has a 80L with about 5-10l researve on top. Daniel Quote
