jedi Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 who are you lot doing your business banking with, ive been with lloyds for about ten years and im not sure if its time for a change Quote
Claude Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I don't think there's a lot of difference between the banks. We're with Barclays, having changed from Nat West a few years ago, but that was mainly due to to the business manager I was trying to deal with. Claude Quote
It Almost Looks Like A Car Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 We have just changed from Lloyds TSB to the Co-operative....and because we are members of the FSB it is completely free! We even use the local post office in my village to put in cheques. Been with them for 7 months not had any problems at all. Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I have used RBS for a lot of years, but that was because of the personal service you got, where you actually saw the manger and could phone him to talk about things , very helpful when things go pear shaped and you need some help. Not sure I would recommend changing at the moment as you have "history" with current bank, so they "may" help if times get tough. On the other hand it is a Bank Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Banks seem to offer very similar services but I would always go with the individual bank and manager that offers you the direct and personal service you require Quote
Norman Verona Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Bank Managers, Now there's a subject dear to my heart. When I first opened a bank account (1965) the bank manager was someone you made an appointment to see. You explained what and why you wanted loan or overdraft and he looked you in the eye, judged your character, looked at your income and outgoing to ensure you could repay and granted or declined. He was alway middle aged and usually drove a Rover 90. Nowadys they're all sales persons and don't want to know unless they can sell you something you don't actually want. The bit done by my friendly bank mamager is now done by a lump of metal, plastic and silicone. I was going to post about banks but I won't hijack this. (oops - think I just did) Quote
Sirius Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I use Natwest for my business banking, not had any reason for complaint thus far. They do seem to all offer much of a muchness, I went with Natwest as thats who we have our mortgage and current account with making it easier for transfer of funds. The couple of times I have had to contact my business manager she has been prompt in returning my calls and helpful. My 2p Quote
Bananaman Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 If your happy with the service you get and can speak with your account manager then i don't see a point in moving.......... Quote
SteveH Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I've been with HSBC for 18 years and I get less personal attention now than I did then. Every time I get a decent manager who is capable of making a decision and that I can actually have a conversation with, he gets a promotion and I get another idiot who sticks to the "computer says no" line I'd move but then I'm trying to re-establish a record with a new bank - no win situation. BuGsBuNnY Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I use Cater Allen. The service received is exemplary every single time, and phone calls get answered by a human on the second ring. Quote
Norman Verona Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Whatever you do don't use RBS. I have a statment in front of me saying the account has a balance of £380.82. So I issue a cheque for £340.00. It has bounced and been represented because the balance is now £290.82. I ring to find out what's going on and am told it's because of the charges for a represented cheque. There's a hole in my bucket, dear Lisa, dear Lisa....... Quote
Paul Ash Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 We moved to Barclays (7 yrs ago) due to there Internet banking being far superior & easier to use than Natwest's. Something to consider. We also have a personal business manager who has remianed the same & is most helpfull. Quote
