John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Taken from another forum............ "As you correctly state Timekeepers, who are MSA licensed officials and for this event must be National A licence holders in that category, are paid officials of the event. Organising Clubs are totally in their hands and are unable to over-ride the Timekeepers decision. The only assurance that I can give you is that the 2006 timekeepers will never be used by DDMC (or I believe Westfield Sports Car Club who had problems with them at other events) again. The problem last year was equipment failure later found to be a 12v system that packed up leaving only a 6v back up. As a Club, DDMC is actively trying to train up a Timekeeper who will then be supplied with state of the art timing equipment. Unfortunately, this process can take up to 3 years! There are very few National A Speed timekeepers and most seem to be ageing along with their equipment. I believe that Tony Parker is one of the best available." Quote
Scottish Bloke Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 50/50 pot luck as usual then Still look on the bright side, it's only £115.00 keep your eyes peeled for my excel spreadsheet coming soon, all you do is input your "Croft Dreamy Time" and it spits out a real time for the results Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 PMSL very good Mr K although perhaps not when you just spent £115 plus fuel and expenses to have some muppets turn the event into a farce Quote

Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Got very annoying last year when I took 5 secs out of the 1600cc record and because of bad timekeeping not recognised, so didn't get extra points. Could have cost me 3rd in the British, but luckily in the end didn't Quote
cast iron Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 you were peed off Nick, how about the guy that won who set a new record and it was dissallowed I did suggest it was dropped from the callander, as there are two more local events on the same weekend Quote
greenandmean Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Mmm £115, freezing cold, still the likelihood of dodgy timing think I'll be giving next years event a miss. Like your version better Rich and if we can play inside in the warm count me in. Quote

As to dropping it, we couln't get an entry to Harewood that weekend, so not much point dropping it. It is a good track and as long as they sort the timing out can be a good event. Quote
mark.anson Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Quite a good event to marshal at. I did this year. b****y freezing, but gets it out of the way for the season, and at least they have shelters to shelter from the elements. Quote
cast iron Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 If they are confident in Tony Parker why dont they offer cashback for timing dangler ups - £50 per spoled timed run should cover it Quote

As your in DMC, I'll let you ask them Stands back and waits for fireworks party over Darlington, should just about be able to see it from my house in Newcastle Quote
cast iron Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Im not a member of DDMC, havent even been to a club night in over 2 years. s***e marshaling organisation, disapointing sprint organisation (there were 3 timed runs when I was on the organising team) no one listened to advice so I took my ball home.
