i was on about it to my kids today,    i was telling them how i used to have dry weetabix with a spread of butter and a sprinkle of sugar and we called a sandwich a piece,    the 70s were ace

I was under the impression that 'piece' was a Scottish expression - according to an in-law of mine from Glasgow.

Oh, and yes, sugar on buttered bread as a child, pure tooth rot! Dripping too. But bananas were saved for warm custard.

sugar butties, bread pudding, beef dripping, everything fried or cooked in lard, my generation should all be dead,  my old mum is 92 in march and still has bread and dripping.

We called em piecy's in Stoke in't 60's.Don't know if they still do
