i was on about it to my kids today,    i was telling them how i used to have dry weetabix with a spread of butter and a sprinkle of sugar and we called a sandwich a piece,    the 70s were ace :t-up:

Ah but a piece was one slice folded ( not cut ).

Never tasted the same if it was cut.  :D

I was under the impression that 'piece' was a Scottish expression - according to an in-law of mine from Glasgow. ???

Oh, and yes, sugar on buttered bread as a child, pure tooth rot! Dripping too. But bananas were saved for warm custard. :)

sugar butties, bread pudding, beef dripping, everything fried or cooked in lard, my generation should all be dead, :laugh:  my old mum is 92 in march and still has bread and dripping.

We called em piecy's in Stoke in't 60's.Don't know if they still do ???
