Bananaman Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 Well what a f**king waste of time......... spent 5 1/2 hrs on the train getting there, first off the 'Sales' guy adds £150 onto the price for Tax, 'Handelling fee'!!!! and fule surcharge not a good start, but after some negotiation i agreed to pay the 6 months of tax and he scraped the other charges (big of him as he'd not mentioned any of them before hand). Next we go to look at the car and there is a fair bit more damage to the car than described, additional damage included dent to front passenger door, scrathced rer bumper and scratches and paint chips to bonnet, and the rest of the car was a bit shabby.... (also notice that all the discs were baddley warn!!! I was getting quite p****d off at this point Asked about the service history (which i'd been told it had) had 2 stamps in the book one at 13K and the next was just dome at 72K.......... That's not a FULL service history.........unless things have changed since i last bought a car At this point i was seriously p****d off and told the spotty littl;e f****r exacly what i thought of him and his dishonestly in getting me to travell over 250 miles on the back of his lies... Anyway i got my deposit refunded and went back to the station to get the train home, so hwve just wasted 12hrs and £120 in train fares. Let this be a warning to anybody thinking of buying from EVANS HALSHAW..........DON'T Question is.... Is there any point in complaining about this and trying to get my £120 back Anyway i Quote
Mark Stanton Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 QUOTE Question is.... Is there any point in complaining about this and trying to get my £120 back oh yes ................ I'd have asked to see the manager at least whilst there for a refund for abortive costs incurred due to incorrect details and information provided. Relax breath deeply and now write a firm but factually concise letter and copy it to Evans Halshaw CEO/Chairman/Big cheese. Keep it factual and not emotional Don't forget to run your sprell chicker over it before sinding Quote

Decided that a Mondeo TDCi fitted the bill. Been looking a while and want 2004+ car with 130bhp engine min spec Zetec and around 70K or below.. this car was 54 Ghia with 72K up for £3K due to what was described as damage to front bumper, FNS wing and RNS door. Pictures were sent and got a quote for repairs (£400) so all seemed like a good deal ---- how wrong i was!!!!!!!!!! Quote
JeffC Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 dunno what it is with cars from Scotland but every car Ive ever bought from up there has been rough round the edges too used to go to edinburgh auction years agowhen I was selling cheapies as they were much cheaper up there but was like looking round a bone yard and time you got em back and repaired you could have had a proper car and on the same subject phoned Edinburgh auction yesterday to describe a 56 plate 330d M sport estate for swmbo and that sounded like it had been parked in supermarket carpark all its life buyers market at the mo nannas, cars are for buttons, nothing is selling for trade never mind retail prices so you will get a bargain at the mo Quote

peterg Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 My Father-in-Law has finally given up driving and given us his old Passat (which we don't need) - 1999 VW Passat 1.8 SE 4dr saloon in black 2 owners including my F-in-L with only a genuine 34,000 miles on it just put a brand new battery in it so we can get it to the MOT station then we'll tax it and flog it once I've given it a good clean, had new pads and disks front and rear at 26,000 mile and was last given a service a year (but only 300 miles ago...) has scrapes on both nearside arches where he misjudged a gatepost £1500 to you Nanas, now I can't say fairer than that and I'm cutting me own throat Quote
