Bananaman Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Do you think it's wise or neseccary to get a HPI check on a car from a large national company such as Evans Halshaw Quote
Tim Reid Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Large dealers often get a check done before they buy the car so just ask them for a copy. It might be a couple of months out of date but if the place is trustworthy would satisfy me. Quote

Norman Verona Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Agree with Jeff. But it may show up on finance, the stocking finance for Pendragon Group. Depends wheather they have a bulk finance deal (probable) or an individual vehicle finance (usually smaller dealers). You have no need to check reputable main dealers. However that advice dosn't apply to lost deposits if dealesr go into recievership before you collect your new car. (Not a specific warning but a general one) Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 My local Toyota dealership folded its tents and stole away into the desert night a week or so ago. Showroom empty, 'ceased trading' on the Toyota website, and tumbleweed on the forecourt, as t'were. Signs of the times, I fear. Quote
jeff oakley Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Just as a note, if you are asked for a deposit at the moment I would try to not give one but if pushed then use a credit card as you can get the cash back if the do go pop before you collect the car. Quote

peterg Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 That thread Moomin posted from Pistonheads is scary... the likes of the Sidlow Group going under etc, mind you, the spotty salesman in Horsham who, when I wanted a Passat seemed to think I wasn't worth bothering with and the snotty woman who, a few years later when we compared the Golf DSG with the Skoda DSG, declared they weren't the same both give me a warm feeling to know they'll be in the queue for the dole now Quote
