To anyone running a 2.2 or 2.4 rack, is it still useable for the road or is it a bit of an effort for parking etc.

Im thinking of changing mine to get a bit more responce without having to turn the wheel excessively esp when you have a bit of oversteer.

Also anyone know where to get hold of a pair of rack stops as i'm hitting the headlamps and bonnet catches.

Hi, I am running a GTS 2.4 rack and it is fine on the road.  I am also running wide track so do not have the lock issue, but I believe Cat Motorsport sell Escort lock stpops for £4.50.

1.9 Titan rack on a road car. Hefty at parking speeds but who cares. Some folk will say "ooohhh twitchy" but you get used to it which means that after about 10 minutes, it isn't twitchy any more. I wouldn't change it for anything...

I run the 2.4 GTS one like Raymond Y. No problem at all on the road and not hard at parking speeds either. I'd even be tempted to go 2.2 or less if I could get one at the same price as the Rally design 2.4 rack.

Ok thanks for that, looks like its next on the shopping list. (apart from a decent pinto head if anyone knows of one)

There's a few places selling high ratio racks, are they mostly made by one company or do some use better materials than others?

Depends on how competent you are with the spanners really. If you have the early rack you could buy the 2.2 kit from Quaife and replace the pinion etc or just get a complete rack from Rally Design(which will be 2.4).

I think someone posted some photos the other week to show the differences.

Found it linky
