Google Steve+Richards+ Westfield.  His build site for Speedsport has most of teh information you will ever want. :)

Go to the links page. There's a link to Steves site on there...

What do you want to know? There are differences between some 1800 speedsports, such as whether they have LSDs and whether they have dunnel zetec engines or pretty standard 1800 engines with 130 cams (about 155 bhp). Steve's site is here.

I have a car in mind that has a 199 bhp Dunnel engine and a 4.09 LSD.

I was just wondering what other parts are used. for example:

What type of brakes are used (wildwood /AP/4pot callipers etc)

Which ECU

Does it have a wide track suspension

It's a factory build car by the way:

thnx again

What year is the car? My 1998 Speedsport came with, as standard, an LSD, front and rear ARB's, Jenvey throttle bodies with an MBE ECU, vented nosecone, TraxSpax shocks, alloy uprights, 15" alloys, standard M16 calipers. I think mine was before widetrack was invented, but I'mn not sure what year they made the Speedsport up to.

Doesn't sound standard speedsport to me. I would have thought the previous owner(s) has added new cams or something to get to 199bhp and probably changed the diff from 3.62 to 4.09, maybe not helping the MT75 box ratios if it still has that gearbox.

Probably best to judge each car on its merits rather than wonder what was standard when it was built. If it is, say, 10 years old it has had lots of time for upgrades.  :t-up:

199bhp from a 1.8 Zetec is going to be an expensive engine and quite some way from standard! Even a 2L Zetec would need to have a reasonable amount spent on it to get that sort of pwer.

I also agree that a 4.09 diff on a standard MT75 means that you have a 4 speed 'box 'cos first will be useless. For that matter a standard type 9 wouldn't fare any better...

My 2002 Speedsport kit was supplied with a 4.09 lsd + MT75 gearbox and as Blatman says first gear is pretty much redundant.

Quaiffe straight cut, close ratio gearbox (MT75)

Now, I could be wrong (it has been known...) but I don't think Quaife ever did a sccr MT75 box  ???  oh, except for a Cosworth Escort 4WD version but that wouldn't exactly be a good fit in a Westie... ;)

in fact a quick Google found this from this website http://www.westfield-sw.co.uk :-

I started taking to people about a suitable replacement for my MT75 gearbox that I fitted to the car when I built it. An email to Quaife confirmed my worst fear that there are no closer ratios for this gearbox.
ARP bolts (£1102)
:0  and that's a lot of money for a set of bolts...

I have a 2001 Speedsport that was factory built.

As best I can tell it came with from the factory with:-

- A limited slip diff not sure what ratio

- AP 4-pot front brakes

- Contoured Dash

- Front and Rear Anti-roll bars

- Jenvey Throttle Bodies

- MBE ECU

- Ducted Nosecone

- Standard engine (130 cams)

Part of the problem I think is that you had the basic speedsport spec but then people could choose options meaning that almost every 'speedsport' is different.

Mine also has a lockable boot cover, AVO dampers/rosejointed, and the 'sports' exhaust.

Cheers, :)

Add in the fact that (I suspect) very few Westfields stay in the same spec they left the factory in beyond the first year or two anyway.

You really do just have to look at every car on a case by case basis.  :D
