Ross Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Hi, changing the oil in the westfield for the first time i have done this in normal car and was wondering if i do any thing different as the car has an accusump fitted. Do i drain this separately? If i do what is the easiest way there is a handle on the for some sort of valve also what does this do? After changing the oil do i deliberately over fill to allow oil to go into the accusump? Thanks and Regards Ross Quote

stephenh Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hi Ross, I'm sorry I haven't a clue, but disappointed also that no-one who knows has given you an answer. Maybe no-one does know on this forum. How about giving the manufacturer or retailer a ring? Or the previous owner? I would have thought myself that unless the capacity of the accusump is very small then you ought to drain it as well. Otherwise you still have some dirty oil in with the fresh clean oil. However, as you saw I didn't even know what an accusump was, so this is only speculation and doesn't tell you how to drain it. Quote
PeteBishop Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hi Ross Guess you do not know how to operate the valve on the accusump by your comments you should close the valve before stopping the engine to retain the oil in the tank, then open the valve before starting to pre oil the engine. To drain the tank warm the engine up leave the valve open stop and start the engine a few times to allow some hot oil to get into the tank, then drain the sump as per normal. To refill fill to max mark on dipstick and add some extra to allow for the accusump(amount depends on size) start engine then close valve on accusump stop engine and check oil level and top up as necessary. Hope that makes sense. Peter Quote
