Graham Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 So are you saying that cars that don't currently legally require cats now need them for motorsport? That's the new MSA rules ............ yes, potentially if your car chassis is manufactured after Dec 31 1999 .............. nowt to do with engine age and before you say that's ****in stupid ............. do a search its all been said before and yes it is (IMO) Well, it is a bit daft! Not a massive problem, I only do a handful of sprints a year, I just won't bother... saves the cost of the MSA license! Shame though. Quote
stewart pickles Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 When is the new blue book going to be available? 2009 Umm very helpful, leaves a lot of time to get prepared then!!! as mark says if your chassis was made post 31dec 1999 you will need a cat on your car if you get your licence in january the 2009 blue book comes with it, you then have three months till the start of the season to spec your car and your kit to the 2009 reg's cat http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/product....PORTS0D you want 100 cell for a carb motor Quote
Graham Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Oh, LOL! Just found the other thread that Mark refers to, brilliant! Quote
mark.anson Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Everyone that signs up for the WSCC Speed Series for 2009 will be asked to supply their chassis number so this can be cross checked and notification given to driver if they need a cat What if it hasnt got a chassis number?? ie non roadgoing car. Mark Stanton Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 QUOTE What if it hasnt got a chassis number?? ie non roadgoing car. All chassis produced will have some kind of production number that dates it Quote

Terry Everall Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Mine doesnt have a chassis number Quote
erictharg Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 Hmmm. My chassis will show 2007 manufacture, but I'm not inclined to put a cat on the 1970 engine. Fitting a cat without some kind of Lamda control is nonsense. On a sprint or hillclimb it will never get up to temp whilst competing, and only serve to restrict my already feeble 1300 engine. Sounds as if I'll have to wait for definitive clarification once the regs are published... Quote
