simon besant Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Think Silverstone Stowe circuit is run by BARC Midlands. I did my first ever sprint there a few years ago. Not been since. How about combining that with a MIRA on a weekend Nick Lear reckons Porlock hill is for tin tops only. What about Colerne or Castle Coombe? The thing is, people from down south complain that there are not enough events for them and when there is one hardly anyone enters probably because most of the people from down south do not enter the speed series because there are too many events so far up north I miss being part of the speed series but a lot of the events are too far away so i have stuck with the southern championships and they often clash with a lot of the speed series dates. But talking to Nick at Lydden hill i am waiting to see the list for 2009 Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 But talking to Nick at Lydden hill i am waiting to see the list for 2009 I am trying to get some more sounthern rounds for you guys, but waiting on some confirmations at the moment. Should be out end of Nov, possibly earlier if some of the other clubs come through quicker. Quote
cast iron Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Just a suggestion in no way a criticism of the excellent work Mira / Curborough would be good on one weekend Barbon manor / 3 sisters/ Aintree Look at dropping events where we have been let down - how about Croft for dodgy timing two years on the trot (and thats coming from me who lives closest!) Quote
stewart pickles Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 if croft's getting dropped we better do it soon before the reg's are out Quote
Asterix Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 if we could start the season in June and end around December then that would suit me (and even then ) Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Mira / Curborough would be good on one weekendBarbon manor / 3 sisters/ Aintree If you could have a word with the event organisers to change their dates and work together with timing crews and marshals etc - I'm sure it would be a go'er The idea is good and would save a lot of folks a lot of money, ......... but...... Until then, fixtures are somewhat out of WSCC control Quote
cast iron Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Easter weekend there are rounds at Harewood, Teeside park, and Croft all on different days, within 60 miles of each other. Drop Croft (expensive and bad timing) have a word with the organisers of the others and we still have two rounds in one weekend very close . Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 You can give Croft a miss if you wish ......... I do but many others enjoy it and there is a good turn-out despite its problems Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Thank you all for your suggestions which have a lot of merit. As I said in one of my earlier posts, the biggest problem with this is that the organising clubs already have commitments and cannot fit us in when "we" would like. ie I did ask about the Harewood in April, but no room. However all is not lost as there will be more double headers this year to try and cut down on travelling time / mileage. It's more a case of working with the clubs to get the best fit we can, but it ain't easy. Quote
