grahame Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 The end of the ASWMC Sprint Championship (www.aswmc.org.uk/sprint.htm) happened last weekend, quite a few Westfields out for what was a rather soggy day at a (very) tight kart circuit. Some youtube footage of a hairdrier might raise a few smiles if you're into that sort of thing, probably not, grab a beer: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PoEH1kn3HqE http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BcLo8NhJdEA http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yCypc5yhT3c http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OrXn7lm13po http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FQG-3VSMUUI http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6sPIl-MzC2Q http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=h4-p58KlDYY Quote
Asterix Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Wet, tight, kart track...ooof. I only watched the first one and got too scared...I'll just wait behind the sofa until it's over Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Room fori mprovement on your lines round Llandow - turning in too soon for the exits of the long bends Quote
grahame Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Thanks John, what do you think about the bus-stop lines? Myself (and the likes of Tom Potter) like to enter and take the whole thing tight and slow. Others take the classical line, in slow and tight, then letting the car straighten up for the last part of the U, allowing a nice straight exit. I prefer a slow tight exit otherwise seem to end up at the next right hander on completely the wrong line (way too deep). Understeer is always gets the better of me. My early turn-in (way too early) in some way seems to mitigate the total lack of power available to accelerate after exiting the classical line (every car in the paddock - or even a bicycle will have more power than I have available). Times have always been slower with a parabolic entry and straight exit. Of course a coarse overall guide. Quote
tcc21racing Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 ooohh i know that kart circuit, strange way around it though il have to check this series out, i would love to take my westie round clay pigeon Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 There's a few different ways round there that people use. Not sure which is best. Yours looks as good as any Quote
grahame Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 tcc21 - It's a good series, well worth joining, plenty of events around the middle south (Llandow, Colerne, Combe) that are easy to get to. It's a friendly paddock full of an interesting mix of varied vehicles and people. Hairdriers have been doing reasonably well, though they are (very) excessively penalised capacity wise in the ASWMC regulations. If you've got a sensible Ford/VX engine then you should find it not only a great deal of fun - you'll be extremely competitive to boot! Quote
