zoso Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 As far as I know if you gain a place by going off track you must give it up again, Lewis did this. I dont know of anything writen in the rules that said if you do this to one of the red cars you must let them win the race. all he had to do was to leave him alone for the very next corner and then try to make a move. How can anyone not conceed that the fact that he was alongside him on the straight was only due to him take the easy way out of the chicane, he could have press on the brake and follow KR on the proper racing line. Therefore he took advandtage of an unfair manouever (cutting the chicane) hence the penalty. PS: I am not a ferrari enthusiast, quite the opposite but this call is pretty obvious I'm sorry, I thought I was watching motoracing... goodness me. They were racing. Hamilton gave the position back. The FIA do not dictate how much of a position to give back usually. From the video it shows raikonen lit the back up coming down the straight, Hamilton had to try even harder to drop back as far as I can see. What really pisses me off is that it doesn't matter as Raikonen binned it anyway! So what does the sport gain from robbing it of an amazing scrap by turning it to s**t with this descision... Quote
neilb Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 http://www.petitiononline.com/belgp08/petition.html Petition Started (not by me) CJ signed. nearly 1k already....doubt it will make a difference but we can but try Quote
adamnreeves Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Very exciting stuff. Sure most of you were doing what I was, standing up shouting at the TV. telling Hamilton to give the place back , which he did. I was then completely elated and looking through my fingers hoping Hamilton could keep it on the track. Then to hear this decision has completed deflated me. If he did have an advantage over Kimi what differerence does it make as he did not finish the race anyway. Why such a hash 25second penality or was this to ensure that Massa would come first. Couple of weeks ago when Ferrari released Massa in the pits into another car with added danger to the pit crews and the drivers attracted no time penality just a low key bribe, I mean financial penality. I am not sure I can watch this anymore. Quote
Fat Albert Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Michael Schumacher in Hungary driving a Ferrari http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5UnPeyzcHM Lewis Hamilton in Spa Driving a Mclaren http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpqlEg19NK0 The difference between the two incidents, Hamilton allowed Raikonnen to retake the lead as required by the rules Schumacher did not let de la Rosa ahead, as required by the rules Result, Hamilton penalised, Schumacher wasn't Think of it as FIArrari in action Quote

Asterix Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 If you haven't got it already, suggest you download it before the FIA gestapo gets wise somehow that links says so much about you !!!! try the version thats not on someones mobile phone video .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTo1rjn054c I have no f**king idea what you mean Harv. I'm guessing you know how hot the FIA are on contentious moments on Youtube and it's the first one I found (well done for finding another). Please try to be a little more explicit next time. Maybe you should try a little less inference. And, in case you run out, here's a few more "!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Quote
reaper Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Even Charlie Whiting agreed that mclaren had done the correct thing in giving Kimi the place back. Shame the stewards, who if you've forgotten are led by a man who counts Ferrari as one of his main business clients didn't see it that way. While MM who also has said he favours Ferrari over everybody else is still in charge I don't think anybody NOT in a red car will win a championship. Quote
Liam Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 When is Ron going to realise that he must have his cars made in Italy and paint them red. LH clearly dropped back behind Raik and simply outdrove him, as was proven later in the lap....... Quote
chazpowerslide Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 What a load of Bucking Follocks, a great way to spoil the best 4 laps in the last two years of F1!!! Chaz. Quote
FW500 Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 That'll teach him... at some point during the year perhaps someone at McLaren will give Lewis a copy of the real rule book to read as opposed to the bent one McLaren seem to prefer to use. Quote
CRAIGR Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Lets face it Red cars are just better whatever the make .End of Quote
Norman Verona Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I'm being seroius but didn't Raikenon commit an offence by cutting across Hamilton thereby causing Hamilton to cut across the corner to avoid a collision. Or did I see something that didn't happen? Quote
