ludo Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 well sorry but the move was not fair. you can discuss the sanction but the fact remain obvious that he gained advantage from cutting the chicane to be in a position to attack at the next corner. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Last year I found it unbelievable that such a professional organisation as McLaren should throw it all away at the last minute, and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with such unbelievably poor tactical decisions. So much so, I was convinced that some *higher* power had ordered the cockups to be made such that they couldn't win the title and, furthermore, disallowing a rookie to make a *mockery* of the sport. I eventually overcame my disappointment, put things in perspective, calmed down and became resigned to the result, because realistically, such blatant corruption could surely not really be operating in this arena. goodness me, I take it all back, this poor lad has no hope of winning the championship, whilst the current legislators are in place, I'll go as far as to moot the subject of racism, alongside McLarenism and Ferrari dangler sucking. Not sure I can continue following it! I agree 100% mate. I have tired to see the bigger picture with the FIA but this stinks. As far as I know if you gain a place by going off track you must give it up again, Lewis did this. I dont know of anything writen in the rules that said if you do this to one of the red cars you must let them win the race. I have been a big fan of F1 for the best part of 20 years but I dont know for how much longer. I have been getting on to the touring cars and Lotus Trophy racing and to be honest if the FAI keep this up I can live without F1. Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 that may be the case Ludo but why leave it till after the race? these are usually dealt with pretty quickly with a stop go penalty. if its so cut and dryed that you drop someone to third by just plucking a figure from the air of 25 seconds then it stinks in my opinion. and I would have the same opinion if it was any driver not just LH Quote

I dont know of anything writen in the rules that said if you do this to one of the red cars you must let them win the race. all he had to do was to leave him alone for the very next corner and then try to make a move. How can anyone not conceed that the fact that he was alongside him on the straight was only due to him take the easy way out of the chicane, he could have press on the brake and follow KR on the proper racing line. Therefore he took advandtage of an unfair manouever (cutting the chicane) hence the penalty. PS: I am not a ferrari enthusiast, quite the opposite but this call is pretty obvious Quote

BTW, I believe that if you make your best time on a qualifying section while cutting a corner, you get penelised too, same thing same outcome. Quote

zoso Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 What a f**king suprise... I cannot belive this at all. Lewis backed off as per the rules! What a joke. Has really ruined my afternoon this, thought i'd just seen some brilliant life injected back into F1, but all I see is a rotting corpse. Quote
