As it seems to be such an advantage to be behind another car and going slower, maybe Ferrari should start from the back of the grid this must be the best place to start the race from?

Will McLaren and the other teams have to double sorry triple check with Charlie Whiting next weekend that the red light have defiantly been switched off before they start or they could be looking at a jumped start penalty........How much clarification do they need that they have complied with the rules?

I think it's pointless for McLaren to try and argue the rule-break. The approach they should take is to argue the penalty was disproportionate. I'd have thought they'd stand a much better chance of pulling that off and getting a reduced penalty to say 10 grid slots at a future GP.

The McLaren fans here really are only convincing themselves that no rule break occured. Picture 2 above says Kimi should have known he was there because of picture 1. So what? More to the point Lewis knew Kimi was there and as they're turning into the chicane (picture 2) Kimi is ahead. Of course my arguement is no more valid than yours and has no more chance of convincing you than you have of me.

Show me the part of regulation 30.3 (a) that says driving off the track is ok if you've been squeezed out. When you've done that I'll even give McLaren a call myself.

One thing that made me laugh and probably didn't help Lewis ver much was his quote during the press conference when asked about the incident:

'...i dont think i'll get a fine but you know what they're like so maybe'

FPMSL - well I guess he was right about that one.

I have until this race contested that the FAI have not had it in for McL. I have posted on here to that effect. I would like say I am sorry I was wrong

I actually believe that they don't have it in for anyone in particular but are arranging the circus so that the whole championship is decided at the last meeting.

otherwise they lose out on massive viewing and attendance for the last 1 or even 2 races if its already decided who is champion.

call me cynical :D

Rob try and keep up we knew that!

What ever the out come of the appeal  lets just get to Sundays race and let Hammo do his stuff and shove it up Ferrari at Monza just to shut up all those whinging Italians.

When I worked for  Pirelli(great company)I used to go to Milan for management meetings all they went on about was Ferrari this Ferrari that it did get on my t**s a bit and that’s one of the reasons why I'm not a fan and as I said before they are the manchester united of  F1 always cheating, always whinging, always getting away with it. Its just a shame that Kimi and Phillipe work for them. Altho' I can't see Kimi been there next season but I'm  sure Kubica will fit in well tho'!

Lol - of course I'm not right Buzz, I don't know any more about this than the next man. I'm just having a bit of fun as all the silver arrow chaps would if the shoe was on the other foot. If anything I'd actually appreciate the FIA overturning the stewards decision, purely in the interests of consistency.

I agree 100% with DWilkes. F1 is, IMO, just WWF for petrolheads. It's an entertainment show nowadays, if you want truely competitive motorsport go and watch something else.

Actually, taking avoiding action to avoid an avoidable collision and avoid a penalty for failing to avoid an avoidable collision *IS* a rule, which drivers should not seek to avoid. :p

I'm sure someone got penalised recently for causing an avoidable collision... what is a driver to do...

Hang on lads, I think I've got a plan...

As I understand it, the FIA wants to make F1 more environmentally friendly, better to watch and cheaper.  I think I know how to do this.

1.  Scrap qualifying.  It's too random, and there's no guarantee the red cars will be in front.  Instead, the grid order will be red cars first and second, and then a random order after that to keep a degree of interest in the start.

2. Televise the first lap.  It's the only bit anyone watches, so we'll keep that.

3. After the first lap, go to an ad break.  For about an hour and a half.  Unlike most programmes on TV, where you fast forward through the adverts to watch the programme, the adverts are the best bit of most F1 races.  They're also the bit which makes the money, and if F1 is about anything, it's about making as much money as possible.

4. During the 1.5 hour ad break, the drivers of non-red cars can determine who's going to finish third by having a domino tournament.  This could be televised on a pay-per-view channel and would almost certainly be more exciting than the average F1 race.

5. At the end of the ad break, the drivers will get in their cars and do the final lap.  By only driving two laps, lots of fuel will be saved, thereby enhancing F1's green credentials.  This will make it more popular, and allow everyone involved to make more money, thereby enabling them to buy larger private jets, even more ostentatious floating gin palaces and faster cars.  These will of course use far more fuel than the F1 cars would, but since the public won't know, it won't matter as the entire 'F1 is green' thing is a publicity stunt anyway.

6.  The finishing order of the race will be red cars first and second, domino tournament winner third, and the finishing order for the rest will be picked by Bernie and Max with local drivers finishing higher up the order to please the local crowd.

7.  Ferrari can decide which of their drivers finish first and second based on which one has sold more Ferrari-branded tat to aspirational chavs with no more chance of ever owning a Ferrari than they have of spelling their own name.

8.  At the post-race press conference, Kimi will be largely silent apparent from the occasional grunt, while Phillipe will look worried about this weekend's prep and wonder whether if he'll be able to afford something from the tuck shop.

9.  The domino tournament winner will thank his team for doing a wonderful job and name-check each and every one of the team's sponsors, unless they are French, in which case they will say they were 'pooshing veery 'ard' throughout the race, or unless they're David Coulthard, in which case they'll threaten to 'knock seven shades of sh1te' out of another driver for being younger and more talented than him.

10.  Job done, the whole circus will decamp to the next despotic regime which has promised to give Bernie large amounts of money for boring half their population to tears under the mistaken impression than it's good for their public image.

Job done!  Anyone got Bernie's phone number?
