peterg Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 some interesting comparisons here ...... Quote
Steven (WE51STE) Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Lewis and Mclaren don't have a chance of winning the F1 (Ferrari 1) Championship with the FIA (Ferrari International Assistance). Its about time that Mclaren and the other independent teams left Ferrari on their own to race by themselves (guaranteed to win a race without cheating then) and started up a rival world championship with out all of the politics, Max ( Hanky Spankey) Mosley and Bernie Eccelestone. I have been to many GP's in the past however, after all the recent decisions I will not be attending any F1 events in the future. I would support the rival championship. Regards, Steve Quote

neilb Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 How much advantage does kimi gain by staying OFF the track? about 2 mins into video... Quote
tex Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 if you look lewis DIDNT get past kimi on the corner but by about half a wheel on the straight kimi knew he was there because of the previous picture and should of given room at the corner - hence there would of been an avoidable accident but instead he squeezes lewis off the track quite clearly - which was avoidable so lewis in avoiding a collision and possible injury of the 2 of them avoids him by HAVING to go off the track - not by his own choice and the best video yet lewis vs kimi onboard in high res last 2 laps in full ps click high quality under video just listen to the down shift speeds!!!! compare it with the fezza - smoooooooth Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 if you look lewis DIDNT get past kimi on the corner but by about half a wheel on the straight It just goes to show how much Lewis fad in hand over Kimi as Kimi's car was a right handful compared to Lewis. If it wasn't the car then you can only conclude the driver is what is making the difference. Lewis was so much smoother and not having to fight the car all the time no wonder he breezed past Kimi at the very next corner. As for the second off track moment they both had Lewis was back on track as soon as possible yet Kimi took a much wider and higher grip/ faster line. As for its not relevant to Lewis protest it seems from what Kimi may have said if some of the reports I have read that he also disagrees with the ruling and is making him self unpopular with his team. Norman Verona Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I feel it's pointless trying to prove if an offence took place or not. And if it did who was at fault. And if one or other was at fault did they gain an advantage. The point is that we all agrre (don't we?) that the penalty imposed is against natural justice. So, what can we do to get the FIA to reconsider its decision. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Stop watching F1 Norm and as big a fan as I am, I am very close to this now. Quote
david.c Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 from what Kimi may have said if some of the reports I have read that he also disagrees with the ruling and is making him self unpopular with his team. It will all be in their Autobiographies in 5 years time David Quote
Bananaman Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Saw an ad on the TV last night or Bridgestone tyres featuring footage of the Ferraris in F1, made me think that I’d NOT buy the tyres due to the bad decision making going on at the moment!!!! Maybe if Bernie etal realised that this whole fiasco could effect there advertising Revenue then they might start playing a bit more fairly? Quote
Norman Verona Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Matt and Andy, you are, rightly, upset (to put it mildly) at the post race penalty. However all those, like you, in the UK who are upset and want to protest are a tiny, tiny minority of the total who watch F1 on TV. I went to the local bar last night and asked the chaps in there what they thought about it. Even those that had watched the race weren't aware of the post race fiasco - and didn't care. I suspect this is the attitude of the hundreds of millions around the world who watched on Sunday. I can't see the appeal changing anything, why should it? Maybe we should all get the BBC to report a mass turn off for the next race. May make Bernie get it turned over. Quote
Guest Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 QUOTE Maybe we should all get the BBC to report a mass turn off for the next race. May make Bernie get it turned over. Bernie would just use it as another nail in the coffin of the British GP. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 To be honest he does not need nails I does what he wants Quote
FW500 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I think it's pointless for McLaren to try and argue the rule-break. The approach they should take is to argue the penalty was disproportionate. I'd have thought they'd stand a much better chance of pulling that off and getting a reduced penalty to say 10 grid slots at a future GP. The McLaren fans here really are only convincing themselves that no rule break occured. Picture 2 above says Kimi should have known he was there because of picture 1. So what? More to the point Lewis knew Kimi was there and as they're turning into the chicane (picture 2) Kimi is ahead. Of course my arguement is no more valid than yours and has no more chance of convincing you than you have of me. Show me the part of regulation 30.3 (a) that says driving off the track is ok if you've been squeezed out. When you've done that I'll even give McLaren a call myself. One thing that made me laugh and probably didn't help Lewis ver much was his quote during the press conference when asked about the incident: '...i dont think i'll get a fine but you know what they're like so maybe' FPMSL - well I guess he was right about that one.
