Scottish Bloke Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 No surprises tho, stewards looking into incident with Hammy and Raikonnen Quote
Pilot Pete Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Stewards are looking into incident(s) invloving hamilton and Raikkonen Of course they are, its standard procedure nowadays to penalise hamilton isn't it? Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Stewards are looking into incident(s) invloving hamilton and Raikkonen Hamilton and Raikkonen found guilty of RACING each other Another night out planned for Max & Co ? Quote
david.c Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Certainley was a dramatic last few laps Hope the result stands because he seemed to do things by the book. Good tactics from Heidfeld at the end David Quote
ludo Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 the line he took in the last chicane was not really, by the book.. altough he didi not gain direct position from his creative line, that's what allowed him to be so close for the next braking. And then we have Bourdais, little crying baby finishing seven complaining that he had so much too loose compare to the other guys he was racing against... what a t****r! Quote
Blatman Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Raikonnen gained just as big an advantage by going *really* wide later in the lap where Hamilton got back on the track ASAP. Hamilton was also impeded by the spinning BMW, and Raikonnen still couldn't take advantage. Then he spins it then bins it. OK, so the initial "event" may be questionable if you're a Ferrari employee or fundamentalist fan, but Raikonnen had two clear chances to capitalise later in the lap, which he blew all by himself. If the stewards find in favour of the Ferrari, it'll be a travesty of the highest order. Cue FW500 for the Ferrari press office view... Quote
neilb Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 after the fia created a new rule for massa at the last race i would put nothing past the fia.....if they give lewis a penalty of any kind it is a joke Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 I'm sorry but I don't see anything about the chicane event that was dubious - it was a normal racing joust that ended up with Hamilton having to take an evading line that very temporarily let him in front of Raikkonen. But LH did the correct thing as quickly as anybody could and Raikkonen regained his position. As Blatters said, Raikkonen had a slingshot advantage when he went the long way around when he slid off the circuit but nobody's moaning about that. When you think of the sorts of things The Cobbler got up to and didn't even get a wagged finger, this whole debate is crass. Then there was the ongoing Senna/Prost feud with all the overt shovings off... Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 BBC News McLaren's Lewis Hamilton was stripped of a dramatic victory in the Belgian Grand Prix after stewards handed him a 25-second post-race penalty. The Englishman was demoted to third place behind Ferrari's Felipe Massa and BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld. The move came after an investigation into a late-race battle between Hamilton and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton's lead over Massa in the title chase has been cut by two points. Massa's team-mate Raikkonen 19 points adrift off the lead Before the penalty, he had extended his lead over the Brazilian to eight points, with Raikkonen effectively out of the running on 23. More to follow. Quote
