dhutch Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Had a quick rummage in the FAQ and theres a thread about how to do about geting a valuation if your insurence needs it. - However for the quote im asking for they only want my valuation so there seams little point in geting it valued. However how do i value it? The cars advertised for £4.2 the bloke apprently wants £4 for it. And im aiming to pay around £3.5 - So say if we settle on £3750, what do i tell them? £4k - Bearing in mind kitcar sales are dead atm, and the market might change a lot in the next year? So far ive got quotes of 589, 613, 520, and 494. In that order from Flux, MSM, Footman, and Sureterm. All Fully comp inluding breakdown and legal protection. And excesses of around 250/300 150 with sureterm. Thats on a 1991 q-plate SE valued at £4k, 3k miles. With me being 21, clean full liecese for 3+years, no claims or convictions. Cheers, Daniel. Quote
dhutch Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Also, only MSM asked for the power of the engine, and i had to say i didnt know (they gave a quote anyway) . - However what would be a ball park figure for a 1.9 CVH on twin Carbs? - Given the answer to the above, would it be best to tell them or not! dhutch Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Just bought it. Paid £3750. Excellent stuff! Quote
Toby Mack Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I hope you enjoy it! personally I would go with Sureterm or footman with a value of £4k. Don't worry about the power - it is probably between 130 and 150bhp but that is a complete guess. I doubt either company will care. Quote
dhutch Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 ...personally I would go with Sureterm or footman with a value of £4k... Is that on reputation or just the above prices. - Ive heard Sureterms good, and also MSM. Might well ring MSM back and try and barter it down a bit. Get it done this luchtime and then i can take it for a spin tonight. Daniel Quote
Toby Mack Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 I've used both Footman and Sureterm in the past. Both gave good value and appeared to know what they were talking about. I had a windscreen claim with Footman on a lotus and they handled it well - they had no problem with me using a lotus specialist rather than autoglass etc. I've also heard good things about MSM. The only one I would not use is Adrian Flux as I have heard too many negative reports. Quote
dhutch Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 Insured with sureterm. £500, including legal and breakdown cover. The later of which i have already made use! Cheers all. Daniel. Quote
highwayman Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I have used Backford Bloor for build up and full insurance as they have a no quibble agreed valuation procedure,I admit they're not the cheapest but hearing of some people's issues with insurers that may be a false economy Quote
